Teams
|
The word is out - age diversity at work is the reality. For the first time in history, there are four generations in the workplace, so it stands to reason that teams may consist of many different perspectives.
What a gift! When you have four generations working together you have the excitement and the experience they bring. Think about the following:
Veterans - they are dedicated, hard working, have lots of experience and the knowledge that comes with it. They will only ask for your directions to be clear and concise.
Baby Boomers - they are driven to succeed, and team players who are anxious to add value. They ask for you to be open and direct in your expectations.
Generation X - they are independent, self-reliant, and great problem solvers. They can multi-task easily. They want answers to their questions immediately.
Generation Y - they love diversity, are optimistic, value teamwork, and are technology whizzes. You will want to be prepared to answer the question, "why?", as they examine every part of your business and what it is you are doing.
Your team needs each other. Now the job is to keep that same team working cooperatively together and appreciating each other's differences. |

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."
