Are you in a job? Or, are you working toward a career?
'The difference?' you might be thinking.
A job is an activity where you earn money, while a career
is the pursuit of lifelong goals.

A career is a process - whether you are a plumber, a teacher, or an entrepreneur you follow a path to increased competence and personal achievement. If you are "stuck in a rut", you might want to consider new ways to light your fire. It's not too late! For instance, the first steps are:
♦ Take an aptitude assessment to see if you're
focused on the right career
♦ Discuss your goals with your supervisor so you
can better understand what you need to do to
achieve them
♦ Sit down with your paper and pen and allow your
mind to explore these things:
· Who did you admire while growing up? Why?
· What is your favourite movie?
· What is your favourite book?
· What are your main hobbies?
· What are your three earliest memories before
age 6?
Write these down and look for the thread - this
will give you some ideas of your passions
♦ Get a career coach
Careers are exciting! They give us direction, an opportunity to get up, go to work and make a difference every day. Look at the long-term picture rather than simply the day-to-day tasks you do. There is so much more to a career that allows us to continue to develop - more reading and internet research, courses, conferences - all these things keep our minds focused on a new aspect of the lifelong learning journey.
