Accessing the Possibilities

December 2011

News from the Home Builders Foundation

Welcome to the latest news on projects and the people who make it happen.

A huge success: Colorado Gives Day

The Home Builders Foundation would like to extend a big "thank you" to those who helped make Colorado Gives Day a huge success! We raised over $8,500 from generous donations throughout the fundraiser, plus we will receive an additional donation the FirstBank Incentive Fund based on our participation.

Look for our participation next year and you too can help the Home Builders Foundation fulfill our mission to provide accessibility solutions and home modifications for individuals with disabilities and financial need across the Denver metro area.

And you can still donate throughout the year at givingfirst.org/hbfdenver

A LOOK AHEAD

2012 is almost here, and we have an exciting year ahead of us. We hope to have another stellar year completing projects that change lives, another wonderful calendar of events, and another year of profound generosity from our supporters (like you!).

We hope to see you along the way, attending our events, joining in on a site project and extending your generosity in any way you can. We also want to invite you to join one of our Gifting Council meetings, which are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month from 1:00-2:00pm at the HBA Building. This meeting covers all that we are about, in just one hour! Learn about current projects and how you can get involved - you may learn that is it easier than you think.

Watch for our monthly e-newsletters and updates on our website for more details on the exciting year that we have planned. In the mean time, have a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!

TAKING THE ICE AT THE PEPSI CENTER

Mark your calendars for a fun night out with the Colorado Avalanche in the 2nd Annual Pucks for Possibilities on Wednesday, February 22nd. The night kicks off with an exhibition game with teams made up of HBF volunteers. Then head over to Brooklyn's for a complimentary reception before cheering on the Avs as they take on the LA Kings.

It's simple, click here to purchase one of our designated tickets with a portion going to the HBF. Club level tickets are just $55 with a portion going to the HBF.

YOU CAN BE A BUILDER CAPTAIN

Builder Captains are the dedicated volunteers who oversee a home modification project, start to finish. They may not be the one who engineers the design, or calls for materials, or even swings a hammer, but they are the ones who make sure all of that happens, on time and within budget.

This is one of the most important roles our volunteers can play, and right now we are in high demand of Builder Captains for 2012. If you have the leadership skills to spearhead a project, or know of someone in your organization looking to give back, then we want you. Contact Beth Forbes at 303-551-6721 for details.

PROVIDING VALUE

Did you know in 2011

every $1 put toward an

HBF project translated

into $9.55 of retail value

for that project?

This means for every

$5 donated toward a project, the HBF can install

a widened doorway;

$100 from the HBF covers the cost of building and installing a typical ramp; and $250 will cover a bathroom remodel.

Please consider a donation to the

Foundation today and

help us help those who need this assistance.

The Denver area has hundreds of folks who, through no fault of their own, have some form of disability.

An HBF remodel allows them to stay in their home and live with dignity and independence.

You can help with donations of money, time, or skill. Donate to the Foundation today, join a committee, or attend an event.

For information on how to get involved, email us at: info@hbfdenver.org, or see our website at  www.hbfdenver.org.
