A Recent Project in Bailey, Colorado

During a heavy rain storm, Stephani Deavila's car was swept off the road and ended in a ditch. She sustained a spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed from the waist down. Two weeks before she was scheduled to leave Craig Hospital, staff called HBF for help in remodeling Stephani's home, a small cabin in the mountains west of Denver. A small army of volunteers was quickly assembled to help. Two ramps were constructed along with an enlarged bathroom, widened doors and hallways. About 450 manhours were volunteered at an estimated construction cost of more than $16,000.
