Jean Pacelli has volunteered at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter since the fall of 2009. She has provided a peaceful and comforting presence at the front desk in the midst of various crises. Click here to read more about our inspiring volunteers.

Help the Homelessness Walk and More
Reston Interfaith has been a partner in and beneficiary of Fannie Mae's Help the Homeless Walk for several years. This effort raises funds and public awareness of homelessness in Northern Fairfax County. Plans are being made now to engage more participants than ever before. The options for a physical activity have expanded to be more than walks this year.
Save the date for Reston Interfaith's 9th Annual Community Walk to End Homelessness on Sunday, October 14. Click here to learn more.
Be looking for ways you can learn, raise more funds, and build a better community. For more information, please contact Ali Robbins, Special Events Manager, 571-323-9572.

Help the Environment and Our Shelter!
Here's a unique way you can help the Embry Rucker Community Shelter (ERCS) and improve the habitat! ERCS is experiencing erosion and ground flooding. Wetland Studies and Solutions volunteered a plan to alleviate these problems. To fully implement the plan we need volunteer gardeners to plant seeds and seedlings and to foster their growth this summer. These plants will be transplanted to the ERCS this fall. Click here for a list of the plants that are on our planting plan.
Please contact Susan Alger to discuss ways you can help. This would be a great group project for families, scouts, garden clubs and others!
