*This Just In

We invite you to learn more about what we've recently accomplished, and the new challenges we face, by reading our Fiscal Year 2009 Report to the Community.
*Moving Towards Self-Sufficiency
Dear friends and neighbors,

Today we pause and take this opportunity to share with you a message I recently received.

"Hope all is well! I just wanted to say 'hello' and tell you how wonderful everything is going in my life.  I have graduated from school as a Radiation Therapist and currently work full time at NIH. I love my job. I have been blessed with an excellent salary and the ability to be debt free! My son is a freshman at Herndon High and is finishing up another great year. He is excited about football and the upcoming summer to find a job. I wanted to meet with you and discuss renting options for the unit I am currently living in. With my new salary, I am ready to get off of subsidized housing - a huge step forward for me, one I could not have taken without Reston Interfaith."

Can you imagine the smile on my face when I read this note from a Reston Interfaith client who has overcome life's challenges and sees a bright future? As Vice President of Housing and Community Development, I routinely experience the joy and pride instilled in our clients when they move through our social service and housing programs and find stability in having a place to call "home." In reading this message, I hope that you realize the impact of your support.  Together, we make a difference by providing our neighbors in need the tools and resources to build stable and constructive lives.

Gratefully,

Tim McMahon
Vice President, Housing and Community Development

*Getting Ready to go Back to School
At Reston Interfaith, we believe that every child deserves to start his or her first day of class fully equipped to learn. With the support of caring community members, our annual Back to School Drive provides essential supplies for children in need. We are pleased to continue our partnership with Kids R First, a local volunteer organization dedicated to preparing kids for their academic futures.

We are currently collecting new backpacks for children ages Kindergarten through 12th grade and $10 gift cards for Payless Shoe Source and the Hair Cuttery.
If you, your community group, company or faith community would like to get involved to make this year's collection a success for children and youth in our community, please visit our website or contact Theresa Rupp at 571.323.9572.
