| Greetings!
I hope all is well with you and continue to wish you the best.
First.....check out the Career E-Store via the Quick Links to the right.
Believe it or not we are half way through 2011!!!!
A wavering unemployment rate around 9.2% can be very discouraging as some continue to witness or experience the struggle with job loss.
Over the last month the following industries have displayed a positive and upward trend in offering employment opportunities:
- Professional & Business Services
- Healthcare (Ambulatory Health Services)
- Leisure and Hospitality
Manufacturing has remained flat and government employment is trending down.
The most recent buzz from SHRM, Leading Indicators of National Employment has reported that there is recruiting difficulty.
Now, why is that?
As organizations are recruiting harder there seems to be a lack of talent skills available to meet the needs for key and strategic positions.
As candidates, employed or unemployed we must evolve and bring more to the table. In this time, a "hard worker" is not going to win or set you apart from the other candidates.
What will set you apart?
- The candidates ability to provide solutions and meet the needs of the organization or industry.
- The candidates ability to communicate these qualifications in their resume, application and during the interview.
Continue to stay positive, use your resources and invest in your success. Investing in your success can mean taking a class, going to a workshop, seminar or even becoming certified/licensed in your industry profession.
Not only must we search for a job we must find out where the jobs are that are not advertised. Tackle the hidden job market. Most jobs are vacant 2-4 weeks before they are advertised. Some things to remember are:
Recently I presented via a live tele-seminar "Is Your Resume Working for You"?
If you missed this event the recorded version is posted on our (click here) website and you can access below.
Next quarter a tele-seminar on Behavioral Interviewing will be presented.
As with all tele-seminars there will be time for Q&A at the end. I enjoy this time the most and this is a great time to ask questions from the comfort of your home, office or simply in private.
I look forward to see you all on the next call.
Best Regards,
