Here are some excerpts from some recent applications we received. After reading these you will see why we all need to do whatever it takes to keep all our Inspire homes open to help these youth!
"At a very young age of two my family was broken. My dad attempted to kill my mother multiple times. He was put in prison ever since and luckily she survived it. I lived with my mom when she got better until I was ten years old when she became very sick and died of Cirrhosis of the liver. She had been an alcoholic ever since I can remember. She had a few boyfriends after my dad who came in and out of our lives like both of my brothers dads. My grandma died five days after my mom. For a while we lived with my aunt, but then one day when I was about twelve a social worker showed up at my school...Ever since then I've been in foster care going from home to home. My siblings and I have been split apart for most of the time. My youngest brother with special needs was adopted by an amazing family that will treat him well. I know that I started off with an unfair hand of cards but I am not going to let that stop me. I am gong to do everything I can to assure that I do succeed in life I was once told that its not where you start at but where you finish."
This young man impressed us so much when we interviewed him and he works so hard in high school to get great grades and play sports. He volunteers at his church and does other community service. I look forward to working with him come June when he graduates...Will you be a part of the Inspire family that gives him a life changing opportunity?
"I considered my life to be in the "middle class" area, until my mother got evicted from our house, our trailer and lastly our apartment. After that, we went from living decent to living in motels, a strange lady's house, our car, shelters and even once on the cold cement right outside of a shelter because they didn't have room for 8 people. I knew at that point we had hit "rock bottom" and I felt as if we could only go up from there. I felt like I had to stay strong for my siblings and I had to help my mother stay strong. I just couldn't help as much as I wanted to."
This young lady said they were finally put into foster care because they were living in a parking lot of a store and none of the kids had been in school all year. Some nights her mom would not come back and finally CPS showed up and placed them into foster homes. She is grateful for the stability she received while in foster care. Her mom has sadly chosen drugs over her children, but this young lady is determined to break the cycle in her family and knows education is the key. Will you be a part of the Inspire family that gives her a life changing opportunity?
