Fall 2009
Inspire Insight
Greetings!

We hope this newsletter finds you in good spirits as you gear up for the holidays. We are so excited to celebrate with the Inspire youth each year. We host a Thanksgiving dinner with the youth, our board of directors and all our volunteer mentors! We are thankful for wonderful volunteers who cook amazing food for our dinner! We will also be having a Christmas party on Dec. 20th in which the youth will receive all the gifts that are generously donated. We pray you and your loved ones have many blessings that you are thankful for and celebrate the true reason for the Christmas season.
Sincerely,

Kristi Camplin
Inspire Director

How Inspire Has Helped Me...          silenna and kristi

My name is Silenna Brown and I am twenty three years old. I graduated from Riverside Community College in 2007. I am presently attending Cal State University of Fullerton. I will graduate with a BA in Human Services next semester. I am more than excited to receive my Bachelor's degree! After I receive my BA degree, I plan to transfer to USC. I am going to double master in Social Work and Law.

I have to pay homage to Inspire Life Skills. I have been with inspire since 2007. I would have never dreamed that I would have gone this far in my education. Before I joined inspire, I was over my head in debt and struggling to make ends meet. My grades were slowly declining and I was faced with the hard decision of attending school part time. I did not want to slow down in my schooling, but I also had to keep a roof over my head. I was introduced to Kristi through a life coach. I was so grateful to meet Kristi and get accepted into inspire. To put it in simplest form I was presented with an opportunity of a lifetime. Not only has Inspire helped me to pursue an education, the program has helped me grow as a person. I was not the easiest to work with. I had trust issues and firmly believed that I could not depend on anybody but myself. The support and compassion that the inspire staff displayed quickly broke down my many defense mechanisms. The staff's love and support was so strong that it demanded change(especially Ginny). I can say that the program caused me to change for the better.

There is no way that an individual can be accepted into inspire and not succeed. I was always given support. I can honestly say that if I needed any help it was just a phone call away. I have never encountered such beautiful people in my life. The program pulled out my strengths, helped me develop a clear vision, and geared my mind to think positively. Before I knew it my confidence was through the roof and I no longer doubted myself. It seemed as though I was flying through my academics and now I have developed great social skills. Words cannot express how grateful I am!

Smiles and Success
The 4th Annual "Make a Difference" dinner and auction held at the beautiful Champion's Club at the Retreat in Corona was an amazing evening and a great success for Inspire. The weather was perfect, the view was breathtaking and the centerpieces were gorgeous. Thank you to our sponsors and to many of you, our supporters, for coming out and celebrating our youth and hearing their stories. We had a very inspirational speaker, Shay Sorrells, from the current season of the hit TV show, "The Biggest Loser"! (We cannot post any pictures of her at this time though). She was a foster youth herself and she spoke directly to the youth about what a great opportunity Inspire is for them.
We had many great silent and live auction items including an adorable puppy! We raised over $42,000 this year and also gained many new monthly partners which is what keeps Inspire going all year round. The youth felt so loved, the mentors and donors were honored. Gustavo and Monica did a wonderful job telling their stories and everyone in the audience was touched by their desire to have a successful and rewarding future. We had 265 in attendance and hope to have even more next year!
