Greetings! Exciting New Developments... Get To the Good Bit Faster As you are probably aware by now,
we have launched the new phase of BodyTech - Concept III, with a move to our
superior new facility, 8 Nugent Street Mt Eden, scheduled for late Spring. We understand that time is your
most precious commodity and that a lack of time makes it challenging to
accommodate a fitness regime into your schedule. That's why our new Concept III
facility takes our philosophy of fitness efficiency to a whole new level -
helping you get to the good bit faster than you ever thought possible. And
what's even more remarkable, as an existing member you'll pay absolutely NO
EXTRA FEES other than the small GST adjustment in October. If
you haven't already, be sure to pick up your Concept III information pack on
your next visit to the gym. To see the architect's impressions of this fantastic new facility,
go to www.bodytech.co.nz. If you have any further questions
check out our website or please call us. |

A new look for a new era
To celebrate the launch of
BodyTech Concept III and to bring to life our new 'Get to the good bit
faster' positioning, we've developed a stunning new advertising campaign as well as
refreshing all our brochures.
Rather than using models from
talent agencies for the photographic shoot, we utilised our own BodyTech staff
and members. Thank you all for taking time out from your busy schedules for the
casting and the shoot. The results are fantastic. The only models we needed in
the end were a Mother and baby, and a very well-behaved dog.
Keep an eye out for this great
campaign starting July 1st.

MedFit - Good Pain vs. Bad Pain According to Rachel Mahoney,
BodyTech MedFit specialist*: When exercising hard almost everyone experiences
some degree of pain and discomfort. Some pain is the price you pay for working
out intensely and improving performance. However, it's crucial to distinguish
between "good pain" - the type that's part of the muscle strengthening process
- and "bad pain" - the kind that may be an injury. The "burn" in your
muscle during activity is what we call "good pain" and is the basis
of the popular phrase, "No Pain, No Gain". This pain should be
short-lived and during the activity only. You may also experience stiff and
sore muscles for up to 48 hours post exercise, especially when you're trying to
improve your performance. "Bad pain" is any pain felt during
exercise that cannot be described as a "burn", it may be a familiar pain that
you get when your knee plays up or when your back gets sore. It is also pain in
the tendons, bone or joints after exercise or any pain that lasts over one
week. If you experience "bad pain" during an exercise you should stop the
exercise. If the pain is severe, you are concerned, or it does not go away
within one week you should seek medical advice. If you have an injury that is
isolated to a particular area of the body don't forget that you can probably
continue exercising by avoiding the area or completing different exercises that
don't stress the injury. In this case it is important to get clearance from
your health provider and recommendations on what to do / what not to do. For more details come along to
Rachel's 'Exercising with Pain' seminar on August 2nd. * MedFit Specialists will always
work with your medical team or current Personal Trainer in the prescription of
a safe exercise programme. |
Personal Trainer Tip - High
Intensity Cardio"The
benefits of
high intensity cardio are increased heart efficiency, increased blood
circulation, reduced cholesterol, reduced blood pressure and reduced stress
levels to name a few," says BodyTech Personal Trainer Chris Bedford. High intensity cardio means
working between 70-80% of your maximum heart rate. A formula guide is 220 minus
age = max heart rate; but an easier way to monitor your heart rate is by
purchasing a polar heart rate monitor from a reputable sports store like Shoe
Science. Chris reiterates you spend less
time on the machines, work a lot harder and continue to burn energy when you
leave the gym. By working harder your body is forced to adapt more to the
stress. Low intensity means your body isn't stressed nearly enough therefore
very little adaptations are made. If you do
not have access to a heart rate monitor, use the Rate of Perceived Exertion
(RPE) scale to determine how hard you are working - if you can hold a
conversation, then you are unlikely to be getting the maximum benefit from your
workout. http://www.sportfit.com/sportfitglossary/RPE.html. |
