 Greetings!

Can you believe it's February 2010?  I can't.
As you celebrate Valentine's Day this month, think about TRUE LOVE.  What is it?
It is GOD.  God is TRUE LOVE.  God is the Creator of our human hearts, and He is the Only One capable of Loving us Perfectly.  Before we can be healthy and whole enough to have loving relationships with other people, we must have a real relationship with God, our Maker and Author of our souls.  We were created with that one purpose: to know God and to love Him.

So, if you want to know Love,...if you want to feel more Love and give more Love,.....
.....get to know God more intimately.

That is my goal for 2010.  And my challenge to you, Relationship 180 Friend.
Thank you for continuing to support this ministry.  May this e-newsletter be encouraging to you.  Please keep in touch and call or email us with your questions & input.

Sincerely,
Julie

Milan's News & Notes

Hello friends and family of Relationship 180.  Happy New Year!

Over the next three months, I will be sharing with you the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Relationship 180.  In so doing, it is my hope and prayer that you will begin to further understand our ministry.

 Name: Relationship 180          Abb. R/180

Tagline: Turning relationships in the right direction.

R/180 Descriptor:  A low cost or no cost relationship counseling ministry.

 R/180 Mission

Connecting people to God's truth about relationship

R/180 Mission Statement:

We believe in the inherent truth that broken relationships are the result of a subtle to serious departure from God's principles. We also believe that through re-engaging God's relational truths that ALL things are possible, no matter how deep the hurt, no matter how rooted the issues. R/180's counseling mission is to facilitate renewal of broken relationships using God's Word to bring clarity, healing; and intimacy; first to our relationship with God and then to others.
Relationship 180's U Turns...
that end up being right turns:

"All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way, but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him (Isaiah 53:6)."  Each of us is broken and wayward.  As children of broken Adam and broken parents, we too make our arrival into adulthood in a state of disrepair. Sadly, most of us functionally operate with little to now awareness of this truth.  Thus, we walk into marriage in an "idealized state" and wonder what happened when relationships cool down or start to freeze.

In trying to determine what is broken within the marriage, as the counseling process begins, I evaluate each couple and individual through several lenses:
Lens #1:  Do they know Christ and are they saved? (Born again)
Lens #2:  Spiritual maturity levels? (Baby, child, young man, father)
Lens #3:  Biblical knowledge and conformity / compliance?
Lens #4:  Family of Origin and reactive attachment injuries?
Lens #5:  Emotional and relational awareness and skills? (EQ & RQ)
Lens #6:  Personality type? (Myers Briggs Type Indicator)
Lens #7:  Psychological unhealthiness as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for mental disorders, 4th edition? (DSM IV)

Growth and maturity in each one of these areas will contribute to the sanctification and maturity of each individual.   With each growth step, the individual better learns how to manage their emotions, reactions and interactions.  They learn to better self regulate.  When this happens, the couple can in turn do better in couple regulation.  When this happens, the marriage has much better chance of defying the odds and growing closer together.

In subsequent newsletters, we will look more closely at each of these lenses to understand their vital importance in marital healthiness.

Frequently Asked Question
When is your next class or workshop?

FAQ:
"In addition to speaking events by Milan & Kay hosted by other churches, will R180 be hosting any events this year?"

Yes, but we busily writing our second book How We Love as Parents and our writing deadline is the end of March.  In the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters of 2010, it is our plan to sponsor How We Love, How We Love as Parents, and How We Love Sexually workshops in a local venue.  Also, quite possibly we may again teach a relationship series on a weeknight for a few months in a local church.  In the fall, we hope to offer a therapist training for Marriage and Family Therapists and Psychologists.  We will also have our annual banquet and fundraiser this fall.  Keep watching our upcoming events calendar, both in this newsletter and on our website for announcements www.relationship180.com.

Relational Giving Opportunities

R180 embraces people who are in a limited financial condition, and help them work through emotional and relational issues with the Lord and others.  While we are open to seeing couples from all walks of life, a large number of couples who are getting help are in full time ministry.

Your gifts allow these ministry professionals who are struggling relationally, emotionally and spiritually to have a more positive outcome in their marriages which in turn allows their specific ministry to be more effective.

Without the financial assistance of the R180 friends and family, we couldn't offer reduced fee counseling to Christian leaders and other families in need.

Would you consider making R180 a regular part of your giving plans?  We are a religious non-profit organization, and your contributions are tax deductable.

If you would like to make a one time credit card donation, or set up an automatic monthly gift via CREDIT CARD, please get in touch with us to initiate those tax-deductable donations.
