Rabbi Eve Posen's Parasha of The Week (Follow Rabbi Eve on Facebook!)

Body of Work

As a little girl, all I wanted was to have my ears pierced. My father did not want his little girl to go about puttingRabbi Posen Headshot holes in her body. He was determined that I would not get my ears pierced until I was 16, although why 16 was the age I'll never know. My dad would tell me that I was perfect just the way I was, or "if God wanted you to have pierced ears, you would have been born that way." All I knew was that I wanted pierced ears, and the glory of choosing my earrings to go with my outfit. Ultimately, we compromised on the age, but my father's point was that my body was pure and just the way that God had created me to be.

Parshah Trivia:

Last week: Parshat Shemini-
1. How were Nadav and Avihu punished for their sin? They were zapped with fire from God.
2. Is camel kosher to eat? Why or why not? No, camel is not kosher because it chews its cud but has no split hooves.

This week: Parshiyot Tazria-Metzora-
1. How did a person make their clothes pure again after tzara'at?
2. Who helped to declare the people pure?

Learning is FUN at Levine Academy

Have you ever seen a Smonkey or a Cataconda?

Never Before Seen Rain Forest Animals  - First Graders

From Mrs. Sheinberg:

We just completed our unit on the rain forest. We learned about the different layers, the animal inhabitants, and the importance of the forests. The children were then given the assignment, at home, to create a never before seen rain forest animal or insect. The kids showed their animals and gave a report where they answered specific questions such as-what layer would we see your animal, Who are its predators, What does it eat, How does it protect itself? We had great fun and it was the entire first grade and the whole grade shared it.
