Be Our Guest
Emily Post, the guru of entertaining and etiquette, wrote "The joy of joys is the person of light but unmalicious humor. You will, if you are wise, do everything you can to make him prefer your house and your table to any other; for where he is, the successful party is also." Successful entertaining isn't easy. There's so much to consider: how the house will look, how the personalities of the guests will blend, what foods will be served (with which allergies avoided), the logistics of cleanup, and the list goes on.
Especially with all of the holidays in our tradition, it comes as no surprise that welcoming guests, Hachnasat Orchim, is a Jewish value, and its roots go back all the way to Avraham and Sarah welcoming the messengers to their tent. We welcome guests to our home as a sign of openness and blessing. The Talmud even teaches in Brachot that the guests have an obligation to bless their hosts. The festival of Sukkot, which is now upon us, is a holiday of welcoming guests to join us in our open and temporary dwellings, though the logistics are a bit out of the ordinary.

Thank you to our 3rd and 4th grade families who attended last week's Middle School Preview. We hope that you were impressed with the academic program, enjoyed speaking with our faculty members, parent Steve Rudner and alumna Jordan Rutner, and hearing from our current 7th and 8th grade students who enthusiatically represented their peers in the areas of Varsity Sports, Student Council and Ambassadors, and Band, Choir and Show Choir.
Mark your calendars as we do it again on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 7 pm. This program is designed for Levine families who are currently in 3rd and 4th grade who want to learn more about our program, and for community families who are considering Levine Academy for middle school, starting in 5th grade. Please invite your friends! rsvp@levineacademy.org
Are your evenings already crammed with activities? We will gladly organize a lunch-hour Preview, upon request! A minimum of 5 families is needed to make this happen and we would love to do it! Contact Mireille at (972) 248-3032, X138.

Sports:
The Levine Stallions co-ed soccer team finished the season today against first place Good Shepherd. The final score was one sided 7-0 but does not reflect the effort of the Stallions who played valiantly against a superior side. The team's effort separated this game from previous losses. The entire team played with heart and never gave up despite the score. They showed a lot of pride in themselves and in Levine Academy!
Although the team had an overall losing record, the team did achieve the preseason goal of making the playoffs.
Special recognition to our 4 8th graders - Steve Levine, Eylon Kidron, Lidor Suissa and Brett Akop. All were significant contributors throughout the season.
Thanks to all the parents, faculty and staff for their support and help throughout the season.
We look forward to next year and the return of 9 players. Go Stallions!
