Union Bank has awarded a $2,000 grant to Life Skills Training and Educational Programs, Inc (LifeSTEPS) in an effort to support underserved families, seniors and individuals living in Riverside County, California. LifeSTEPS will use these funds to help ensure that clients in crisis are provided with financial literacy instruction, emergency assistance and other critical supports that will create housing stability and brighter futures for the individuals which they serve. The mission of LifeSTEPS is to provide effective educational and supportive services to maximize the strengths of individuals and build resilient communities.
A 501 (c)(3) public benefit corporation, LifeSTEPS is the largest provider of social services to residents living in affordable housing communities in California. The organization, formed in 1996 and headquartered in Fair Oaks, California, delivers life skills training, educational services and emergency assistance to residents in 175 communities statewide, providing over 55,000 people access to these services.
Unlike most social service organizations, LifeSTEPS is not dependent upon government funding. The organization's revenues are largely generated from service fees paid by property owners, and through grants such as this one. As a provider of wrap around services LifeSTEPS offers confidential case management, youth programs, community building activities, and educational opportunities designed to help low income residents successfully maintain and enjoy secure housing.
For more information about programs and services operated by LifeSTEPS, please contact Jim Phelps at (916)965-0110, or visit www.lifestepsusa.org.
