Change a Life Foundation Recognizes LifeSTEPS
As a 2009 Outstanding Partner

January 18, 2010, Anaheim, CA  ̶  Change a Life Foundation honors Life Skills Training and Educational Programs Inc. (LifeSTEPS) for its outstanding commitment and service to changing one life at a time.  At the Change a Life Foundation's annual In-Service Workshop for its non-profit partners, LifeSTEPS received the 2009 Valued Partner Award.  The Valued Partner Award recipients are chosen each year based on the number of cases submitted, excellent grants written and being an overall remarkable partner.  This award not only commends the hard work and dedication of the LifeSTEPS staff, but recognizes the 21 individuals served by LifeSTEPS whose lives have been significantly improved in the past year through Change a Life grants.

Executive Director, Beth Southorn, accepted the award on behalf of LifeSTEPS saying, "We are thankful for this award since it signifies the truly amazing partnership we have with the Change a Life Foundation.  With their support, LifeSTEPS is able to fulfill its mission; we are able to provide tangible results for individuals who, through no fault of their own, suffer from devastating life circumstances.  100% of all funds received, go directly to impacting the lives of individuals and families in need."

LifeSTEPS' residents lead healthier and happier lives because of Change a Life Individual grants.  A senior resident suffering from chronic spinal pain had her life changed in February of 2009 by a Change a Life individual grant.  She was not able to exercise or sleep without debilitating pain and because she did not have the means to purchase the necessary items to alleviate her ailments, the Change a Life Foundation provided the funds for a recumbent exercise bike and a specialty mattress.  Today, this resident is rested and now strong enough to return to her passion, volunteering at her local homeless shelter.  She relates in her thank you letter, "One day, I had two huge blessings arrive at my door, one after the other.  I really ought to call these blessings miracles because without your help, I would still be struggling. So, to my wonderful donors, many thanks, many blessings!"  There are more success stories like this one waiting to happen and LifeSTEPS is looking forward to helping even more residents in 2010.  Additionally, with the recent receipt of a $10,000 Emergency Fund grant from the Change a Life Foundation, LifeSTEPS is able to positively impact even more individuals and families' by providing financial assistance to our clients in crisis.
LifeSTEPS is a nonprofit charitable organization that serves residents living in 140 affordable housing properties throughout California.  By partnering with property owners and developers, LifeSTEPS provides professional social work services, activities for children and seniors, and educational classes to more than 35,000 individuals.
