Making your pub better... |
Dear
How incredible that we are finally seeing the snowdrops and the occasional sunny day, hopefully we can leave behind the sleepy winter and begin to celebrate Spring.
We are getting busy for Easter with a superb new seasonal menu, including local Romney Marsh Lamb. We also have a new fish supplier that delivers fresh fish daily, including Rye Bay Scallops and delicious Dressed Crab. Complimented beautifully with our award winning supplier of wine, Chapel Down, Tenterden; a glass of their chilled Bacchus with either the scallops or dressed crab, is really something.
However, you will have to wait another week to taste all of this fantastic food as our exciting kitchen refurbishment begins on Monday 15th and draws to a close on Friday the 19th March, where we will re-open the kitchen at 7pm... the good news is that the bar will remain open!
Please also note that the date for our Bull at Benenden Open Day will now be held on Friday 21st May. It is a great opportunity to find out what we offer as a venue for you and local businesses. Please come along and sample some of Kent's finest suppliers of food and drink.
We look forward to opening up the Secret Garden once again and hope you can join us soon.

Spring is on its way and with the warmer sunnier weather just around the corner, the seasonal changes will be reflected in our menu.
Using the freshest locally produced ingredients, and with our new kitchen, we will be able to offer a fantastic varied range of dishes, whilst keeping the good old pub classics that we all love so much.

It can't come too soon...
 I want to take this opportunity to openly thank our incredible team for their perseverance with our dated kitchen.
To set the scene on an average Sunday Carvery... the tables are laid, the Dining Room is full with guests enjoying the finest topside of roast beef or roasted crackling pork, accompanied with a chilled glass of sauvignon blanc.
Whilst unbeknown to our diners, behind the scenes the kitchen is a hustle and bustle of activity, in what can only be described as a very testing environment. Quite often our temperamental cooker chooses whether or not it wants to work and smoke bellows out from our kitchen on regular occasions!
But, against all odds our chefs continue to produce a standard of meal that you have come to expect and regularly receive compliments on their accomplishments.
And when we say it can not come too soon, we cannot stress enough how much we are looking forward to our kitchen refurbishment. After months of planning we are now ready to go for it, revamp and modernise.
One of the things we have planned is a brand new steam oven that will enable us to continue to make our delicious sticky toffee or bread and butter puddings. We will also be able to offer beautiful homemade crème brule and roulades, happily in the knowledge that our cooker will stay alight!
From kitchen to table our service to you will be quicker and more efficient, cutting waiting time.
These are exciting times and I along with the team look forward to a positive change to your dining experience and hope that you will come and taste the difference.

Bullseye at The Bull...

The winter darts league is coming to an end and finishes in the beginning of May. I would like to thank our regular players for their support and we look forward to playing in the summer league in mid May.
We are always looking for new members, and ladies you are always welcome, so give us a ring in you want to join the team. It's always a good night out and great fun.
You can see from this photograph taken in the 1950's with Sidney Whitman at the helm, darts has always been a part of The Bull. As Lucy has mentioned in a past issue of The Bulletin, we value the history that has made our pub what it is today, so here's to another successful year for our darts team.

Goldie Reed
Goldie Reed and her band are putting on an evening of music to raise funds for their charity trip to Kenya. They will be teaching the children whilst building and renovating local schools. Goldie Reed will be performing her own music, entwining beautiful piano playing and delectable slide guitar, with a grooving rhythm section it promises to be a treat! Her meaningful lyrics and solid conviction is not to be missed.
Joining them is another Tonbridge-based band. Sarah Tonin is the creation of Chris Parris and Phil Wakeman, whose song writing dynamic fuses majestic guitar lines with catchy pop sensibilities to form a delectable psych-folk bubble.Check the bands out and Listen now.
