...We're Winners, let's celebrate with a Beer Festival
Dear

Festival Fever

In celebration of winning the Great British Pub Awards "Best Entertainment Pub of the Year" and "Best Free House Pub of the Year" in the South East, we are hosting a Beer Festival on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September.

We will celebrate all that makes a Great British Pub and that of course includes the Ale. Join us as we bring homage to our local greats as we host over 20 different Real Ales, Ciders and Pear Ciders also lovingly called Perries. All of which will be sourced from Kent and Sussex and we have a fair amount of experience when it comes to Real Ales & Ciders. In 2007 & 2008 we were very proud winners of the Mid Kent CAMRA Pub of the Year and we only missed out last year by 1 vote!

To ensure you can taste as many as possible we will be introducing our 'Festival Pint'. Each glass measures 1/3 of a pint and you'll get 3 glasses on a wooden tray. This gives you the chance to sample 3 ales, ciders and perries of your choice all for the price of 1 pint. Choose which one you like the best or come back and choose from another Festival Pint selection. Of course we will still be serving traditional pint and half pint measures. If you find something you really like you can always take it away in a 2 pint Hopper.

If you cannot decide which to sample first you can always try with a 25ml taster cup free of charge.

Whilst you are sitting back and tantalising your taste buds you can also enjoy food from our seasonal 'Festival Menu', which is all sourced from local suppliers and home cooked.

There is also live music throughout the weekend, so make a date in your diary, come along and have some fun.

Just to get your mouth watering here are some of our guests for the weekend!

Free Function Room at The Bull at Benenden
 The Bull
The Dining Room is available free for your functions and with recent refurbishments it is truly a comfortable space.

Over the years we have hosted many different events and private functions including christenings, weddings, funerals, birthday parties, children's parties, private dinners, luncheons and even a 100th birthday party.

Years of experience has taught us that no 2 events are the same and we make sure that each event is given personal considerations. We will always talk to you in depth about what you would like and together we can plan the occasion to enable us to cater according to your wishes

One function may require an extravagant 3 course meal with Champagne or another may just want sausage rolls, whichever you require we are versatile and flexible. Ultimately we want you to sit back (or dance) and enjoy, whilst we do the work.

The Dinning Room can accommodate up to 50 comfortably for a sit down dinner, or for a private carvery we can seat up to 45.

Our informal fork buffets accommodate 40 seated, but if some of your guests are happy to stand, we easily have room for up to 80 and of course your guests are welcome to over spill into the bar and secret garden.

For many of us it may be too early to mention Christmas, but The Dinning Room is available for private Festive Carveries and Christmas and New Year's parties.

This year we are hosting Christmas drinks parties with canapés and sparkling wine and Christmas dinners or party nights with a disco. It is a busy time for everyone so if we can help take some of the burden allowing you to relax and enjoy the occasion, please give us a call on 01580 240 054 or e-mail us at functions@thebullatbenenden.co.uk
Wow... we are Winners
 pub
After much nail biting it is official. We are the 'Best Entertainment Pub' and the 'Best Free House' in the South East of England as voted for by the Morning Advertiser which is officially the pub trades favourite publication.

We are extremely proud and honoured to receive such a prestigious award and it is lovely to be recognised after all of our hard work over the last five years. But, it would not be possible without you our wonderful and valued customers and our superb team, all of whom go that extra mile to put The Bull at Benenden on the map.

We are excited to be invited to collect our awards at a glittering awards ceremony at the London Hilton Park Lane. Maybe Mark should accept the award as I might witter on for England and those of you who know me well enough know I am very capable of an occasional chat!

What's really exciting is that on the evening we will find out if we have won the National Award for both categories, so please keep your fingers crossed for us.

The 12th of September is looming...
As I write my dress has still not arrived, if anyone is handy with a needle and thread please let me know. Mark might have a couple of hop pockets knocking about in the cellar and I might have to use those instead!

The Bulletin
Finally I want to thank everyone who reads and interacts with The Bulletin, whether you use our vouchers, send us e-mails or talk to our staff about the articles.  Please remember you can forward it to your friends so that they can join in and hear all about what's happening.

Mark's Curry...

VegMark's curry night every Thursday is renowned throughout The Weald and has now become a well established occasion. It offers a fantastic treat and great value for money.

For £9.95 you can choose from poultry, fish or meat curries and there is always a vegetarian option. You also get two side helpings of vegetable curry dishes, naan bread and fragrant basmati rice. Plus, you can have a free glass of wine, pint of beer or soft drink to help wash it down.

Using the best ingredients we cook from scratch and work starts early in the day preparing the food and blending the spices. Mark often hot foots it up to his home town of Ilford to get the freshest okra and tamarind to create his fantastic curry feast.

If you like a curry then Thursday nights at The Bull (from 7pm) is the place to be. Often there is live music with our Music Club so you can sit back and enjoy free live entertainment as well.

Booking is essential on a Thursday night, so simply give us a call on 01580 240 054 or e-mail us at: reservations@thebullatbenenden.co.uk

Mark's curry dishes are also a staple part of our menu so if you cannot make Thursday pop in another time. You can always use the voucher at the bottom of this e-mail and receive a Free Dessert.

We hope to see you soon.

IT'S BACK... AND THIS TIME, IT'S CONGREGATIONAL!
Do you like Beer?
Do you like Hymns?

Imagine The Bull at Benenden. Got that? Now, imagine it full of people singing. No, I mean, really, really, full. Imagine Geoffrey Davison; knocking out traditional hymns as though his life depended on it and the very beams of the old place quivering on their corbels and popping off their purlins. If you can, then you must have been at last year's Beer and Hymns, because that's the only way you could possibly know what a great evening it was. The only thing that could possibly have improved it, would've been if there'd been an actual beer festival going on at the same time.
'What's that, you say? There is a Beer Festival, this year? Our cups (and glasses) runneth over!'

The Bull and St George's Church Benenden invite you to join us, at the Bull on Sunday September 27th at 8.00pm for an evening of Beer and Hymns.
