Dear

One man's junk is another man's treasure...

This month's bank holiday weekend on the 29th of August
we are hosting another fantastic special event a:

                           Junk 'n' Lunch.

From 12pm to 3pm you can pop along and browse through a variety of table top stalls selling everything from books, homewares, linens and small furniture. It will be a treasure trove of bargains.

You never know what you will find; it may be that item that you have always wanted. It is definitely an event for all of you ardent boot fair folk.

Set in 'The Dining Room' and outside undercover you can take your time whilst you peruse the great deals and enjoy a glass of wine or pint of beer at the same time.

Stay for lunch and enjoy a meal from our delicious Special £5 menu, created just for the day.

There's a great choice of homemade meals cooked to order using local ingredients.

So, pop along and join us for a great afternoon. Let's see what treasures turn up and pick up some great bargains!

If you want to hold a stall simply call us on 01580 240 054 or e-mail junknlunch@thebullatbenenden.co.uk for more information.
All the trimmings on Sunday
 The Bull
Every Sunday the Bull is transformed into a friendly, family, country dining room to host our 'Sunday Carvery'.

Cooked by our experienced chefs, there is always a selection of at least three mouthwatering meats, such as roast topside beef locally supplied, roasted crackling pork and roasted Norfolk turkey, plus some Sundays we have roasted leg of lamb.

Accompanied by an unbeatable choice of trimmings the Carvery includes roast potatoes, steamed broccoli, carrots, cabbage, peas and mashed swede cooked in nutmeg and butter.

For that special homemade treat that we all love you can also choose pigs in blankets, traditional stuffing and everyone's favourite Yorkshire puddings.

For those who prefer a change we will also offer fish dishes and at least two vegetarian options.

If you can mange it there is a fantastic selection of homemade traditional puddings such as apple pie, spotted dick and treacle sponge. Scroll down to the FREE DESSERT VOUCHER at the bottom of The Bulletin and you could get this for free!

We welcome children and have high chair and baby changing facilities. We even provide you with baby wipes and the children with colouring pens.

Sunday Carvery is only £9.50 per adult and £4.75 for children (under 10), which is fantastic value for a Great British traditional meal in a Great British Pub.

There is a choice of two sittings. If you would like to find out more, or want to book a table please e-mail us at bookmytable@thebullatbenenden.co.uk or give us a call on 01580 240 054 and we hope to serve you soon.

Don't forget NEW on Sundays
Carvery Baguettes
For just £4.95 you can enjoy a delicious 'Carvery Baguette'. Choose from beef, turkey, pork, or lamb cut fresh from the carvery. Ideal for a Sunday snack.

Beer & Butty
Fancy a different Sunday snack then pop in for a beer, (or small glass of wine) and a butty for only £6. Available from 4pm until 8pm.
Summer Fayre Success

Summer

Last month saw our first Summer Fayre and I am proud to say that it was a complete success and as a result we are looking forward to planning a Christmas Fayre and making them both into annual events.

I would like to thank all of our customers, both new and old who came along to enjoy what was a quintessential English day.

Thank you also to all of the stall holders who provided a fantastic variety of lovely and unusual items for us to choose from. If you want to get in touch with any of the stall holders I have provided a list below.

Thank you as well to the staff who worked tirelessly in ensuring that it was a perfect day and we even had a surprise visit from the Hooden Horse, which was a real treat for the children.

The summer fayre was the innovative idea of Jus and we are always looking for new ideas on what you would like to see at The Bull.

So, if you have any ideas for events I would love to hear from you. Simply e-mail me at lucy@thebullatbenenden.co.uk and let me know what you would like to see.  We can't promise we can host them all but we can definitely have a look.

How far has your beer travelled?

BearIt's a strange question, but one that we can confidently answer and that is, not very far.

It's safe to say that your beer at The Bull has probably travelled no further than 30 miles (as the crow flies) from its brewer to your glass.

This is because we are proud to be members of 'CAMRA Locale' a new initiative that promotes pubs stocking locally brewed real ale.

Everybody benefits, as we support the local breweries and you get more diversity and choice. Our ale also travels less "beer miles", so we are doing our bit for the environment as well.

To give you some idea of how far your beer has travelled here's a list of our regulars and their breweries.

Larkins is brewed in Chiddingstone and Tunbridge Wells
Harvey comes from Lewes, East Sussex
Dark Star Hop Head, is from Ansty near Haywards Heath
Rother Valley Level Best is our closest neighbour in Northiam

This month we also have some guest visitors:

Westerham Grasshopper and Westerham British Bulldog and you've guessed it, they come from Westerham.

So, why not pop in and try something new (if you have not already) and let us know what you think or our local ales..

'Two Pint Hoppers' to take-away...
Don't forget if time has been called, you can also take-away your favourite beer, in a two pint hopper. Just ask at the bar.

Staff Profile
Justina Hind
Jus
'Jus' as she is  known has worked at The Bull for Mark and Lucy since they bought it in 2004.

However, she also worked for the previous owners for four years. All in Jus has worked at The Bull for nine years. Something tells us she likes it here.

Some things you may not know about Jus are...

She is a champion roller skater, playing and winning for the England Roller Skating Team!

She works part time at Lloyds Bank and is always meeting her targets and winning incentives.

She's married with two beautiful boys and she likes to go on holiday (a lot!) Jus must be one of the most well travelled 'bar maids' in the land.

Jus is a great asset to The Bull. She is smiley, happy and professional and we would certainly struggle to cope without her valued opinion and input.

Thanks for everything Jus!
We help the environment and support local breweries. The Bull actively reduces the miles your beer has travelled from brewery to bar...
