For the last decade, Theo Ubique has set the standard for musical excellence in the off-Loop scene. And their new Jeff Award-recommended production of Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller has once again garnered raves. Hedy Weiss in the Chicago Sun-Times writes, "There is so much sassy talent generating so much rock 'n' roll heat in the Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre production of Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller that it might just be worth issuing this warning to the long-running and similarly rock-fueled show Million Dollar Quartet: After all these years, you've finally got some genuine competition."
Pride Films and Plays is thrilled that director/ choreographer Brenda Didier and the cast of Smokey Joe's Cafe will join us at Stage 773 next Tuesday, October 9, at 7 PM for Pride Films and Plays' benefit Simply Sensational 2.
