The All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret!

Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 Great Gay Screenplay Contest from May 1 to June 30, 2012.
We are looking for fresh material that represents the community and is essential viewing for our friends and families everywhere.
The five finalists each receive a $400 cash prize, plus the chance to see an "enhanced staged reading" of their work during Gay Screenplay Weekend October 17 to 19 at Center on Halsted in Chicago.

The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me

In June 1992, David Drake opened his one-man show The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me, which went on to make theatrical history as one of the longest running one-man shows in New York. The New York Times called the writing "angry, occasionally ferocious...Every line is spare, quick, complex, as it chronicles an important time of change for gay men in America."
Now, 20 years later, Chicago actor and PFP Ensemble Member Chad Ryan will perform a 20th anniversary edition with new material penned by David Drake. The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me will be performed at Luna Central, 3914 North Clark Street.
There is one preview performance on Wednesday, June 20th at 7:30; tickets for this preview are $15. Opening night is Thursday, June 21 at 7:30. Performances thereafter are Friday, June 22 at 7:30; Saturday, June 23 at 7:00 and 9:30; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, June 26 through 29 at 7:30; and Saturday, June 30 at 7:00 and 9:00. Richmond Jim by Cal Yeomans is a long-lost gay play that was named the Best Gay Play of 1979, and has been unproduced since.
As the play opens, a young man newly arrived in New York finds himself in the arms of Mike, an older man well-versed in the various pleasures of the body, and an erotic metamorphosis begins.
We hope the play will be a flashback for those alive in 1979 - a time very different from today. And we hope that Richmond Jim will be a theatrical time machine for those looking to experience gay life at the moment when everything began to change. Pride Films and Plays Ensemble Members Kris Hyland and Jamie Smith are featured along with Chris Kossen.
Richmond Jim is part of the Naked July Fest at National Pastime Theater on Lawrence, and as a result the performance schedule varies.
Richmond Jim plays on Fridays and Saturdays at midnight on June 29 and 30, July 6 and 7, and August 3 and 4. Performances at 8 pm are slated for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, July 10 - 12, Thursday, July 19, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 24 and 25, Wednesday and Thursday, August 7 and 8. There are also 6 pm performances on July 15 and 22. The final performance is August 8.

This festival will feature the most exciting new screeplays and plays written by women and featuring lesbian characters.

Summer Pride At Chandler Festival 
Pride Films and Plays' Executive Director David Zak once again heads to Chandler Music Hall in Randolph, Vermont to helm the second Summer Pride Fest at Chandler.
The two-week festival features enhanced staged readings of two new works - Still Fighting It by Cassie Keet, and The Homosexuals by Phillip Dawkins. And our exploration of classic LGBT literature continues with performances of Lillian Hellman's classic, The Children's Hour.

Dangerous To Ourselves
Dangerous To Ourselves features a combination of lesbian prose, poetry, drama, stand-up, essays, and interviews.
Through the voices of many, the story of a universal woman will emerge. "Such women are dangerous to the order of things," writes poet Adrienne Rich. "And yes, we will be dangerous to ourselves."
Dangerous to Ourselves will be performed for one night only on August 18 at Women and Children First Bookstore.
