Going Mobile!
As smartphones and mobile apps continue to expand their market, Digital Active Online is developing mobile versions of many of our applications.
Our ActiveOffice tools are built to keep people connected; developing for mobile devices is the next step. In addition to being an iPhone App developer, we are also creating websites specifically designed for mobile devices. This will allow users to access public websites in an easy-to-navigate format, as well as access login areas within our ActiveOffice tools. Summer Destination: South Haven!
The warm weather has finally arrived and that makes us dream of hitting the beach at South Haven. Of course, before you start loading the car, you need to visit
Digital Active Online developed the website and we always like to give them a plug. The site features great tools to find accommodations, restaurants, events, attractions and more. "Our website is the number one marketing engine for our organization", said Lisa Shanley, Executive Director of South Haven Visitor's Bureau, "... the website receives over 250,000 unique visitors a year, from all 50 states and over 72 countries." The site is partnered with the Pure Michigan Travel campaign and uses ActiveCMS tools to manage site content. So hit the beach this summer, but be sure to hit the southhaven.org first!

Collaboration Spotlight: SCRA
ActiveOffice web-based software allows organizations to collaborate in a secure environment. We like to say our tools aid the "geographically challenged."  This month's Collaboration Spotlight features just such a group. The Specialty Crops Regulatory Assistance (SCRA) is a collaborative effort between public and private groups to assist in the development of biotechnology-derived crops. SCRA, Bethesda, Maryland-based, provides guidance in negotiating the complex U.S. regulatory process for the commercialization of biotechnology-derived crops. Digital Active Online has developed a website (specialtycropassistance.org) with secure-access areas that enable SCRA to connect to clients, board members and third party organizations. SCRA utilizes the site to provide information to the public, while a login allows registered users to access materials specific to their group.
The secure-access area of the site features a file sharing area, a discussion forum and, for SCRA staff, the ActiveCMS tools to manage the website content. The simple interface allows a wide range of users to interact with the site. "The website has provided us with an excellent way to connect to our members no matter where they are located", said Lori Leach, Project Coordinator for SCRA. As the biotechnology industry continues to grow, SCRA has the tools to grow along with it.

TEDx Spreads Ideas in Michigan
TEDx, the independent version of the globally popular TED conference, took over the Wharton Center in East Lansing. "TED" stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design.  Their tagline is: "Ideas Worth Spreading," and the Lansing-area edition did not disappoint. The conference features presenters with a fast-pace format. While the presenters are from diverse backgrounds, each shared a common goal of inspiring the more than 500 attendees. The stage featured speakers including local entrepreneurs, a social media author, a physicist, a chemist, and a pilot. Michigan State University alum and author Erik Qualman offered his take on social media with "The Future of Social Commerce." Eric's book, "Socialnomics", was an Amazon Best Seller. His presentation featured a video (see link below) on the amazing power of social media. Please check out the links below to learn more about the event. With events such as this, volunteers mean everything, so thanks to all those who shared their time to make TEDx a fantastic event for Lansing.
