Adams Outdoor Advertising Expands Corporate Intranet
For over eight years, Digital Active has developed, hosted and managed the corporate Intranet for Atlanta-based Adams Outdoor Advertising (AOA). We currently are creating a new feature to assist in managing employee access to email and the AOA Intranet. The new module will alert 3rd party vendors of changes in an employee's status. This addition will streamline the process and ensure the accuracy of employee access to email, software and corporate documents. The current Intranet offers secure access to corporate documents such as the Employee Handbook, H.R. Policy Manuals and contracts for each of the 18 markets. The AOA Intranet has grown into an invaluable business tool for the company, connecting their offices across the eastern U.S. with their corporate offices in Atlanta.

IgniteLansing 2.0
The Temple Club in Lansing's Old Town played host for the sold-out, Ignitelansing 2.0. The Ignite format features a series of presentations, limited to five minutes and 15 slides. Instead of dry, plodding PowerPoints about a particular business, the presenters offered ideas and insight on everything from exotic fruits to "B-movie Survival Tips". Even though the event featured "diverse" topics, the presenters and attendees shared a central theme of positive thinking and raising awareness of the resource of talent the Lansing area offers. With state government, Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, established companies embracing change, and a growing number of forward-thinking companies, the area is home to a fantastic creative class. Based on comments by some of the attendees, seeing the crowd of enthusiastic colleagues was either eye-opening or simply reinforced the notion the area is shaking off the Rust Belt label. Special thanks to Al Hooper, owner of the Temple Club, and to the organizers and all the wonderful volunteers who made the event such a success. Digital Active's Todd Ross has joined the IgniteLansing steering committee and looks forward to participating in the planning for IgniteLansing 3.0.

Celebrating the Life of Dr. Norman Borlaug
Cornell University continues the Borlaug Global Rust Initiave with Digital Active
 September saw the passing of a truly great man. Digital Active is mourning the the world's loss and celebrating the life of Norman Borlaug. As a Nobel Laureate and the father of the green revolution, it is safe to say Dr. Borlaug touched a billion lives. In the 1970 presentation, the Nobel Committee commented "more than any other single person of this age, he has helped provide bread for a hungry world."
With Digital Active, I have experienced the good fortune to be involved with two projects associated with Dr. Borlaug. The Global Fusarium project and the Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI). The BGRI website development was part of a coordinated effort to help prevent the spread of the UG99 wheat rust threatening wheat production in Africa, the Mideast and Asia. The website, www.globalrust.org, is used to raise awareness to the threat facing the world's wheat production and attract researchers and growers worldwide. Thanks to $26.8 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, BGRI is now a partner institution in the Durable Rust Resistance in Wheat project, headed by Cornell University.
 Traveling to the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (known by its Spanish acronym, "CIMMYT") in Mexico City, I was able to see first-hand the incredible field research Dr. Borlaug had assembled. At that time, I was told 75% of the world's wheat production could be traced back to the research field I stood in. Researchers from all over the world live and work on the CIMMYT campus, just one of the facilities associated with Dr. Borlaug.
It is hard to imagine a more noble cause or a man who has had such an impact on so many lives. We are honored to continue to participate in projects with Dr. Borlaug's organization and our sincerest hope is that his efforts live on with the various groups and countless people he has inspired.

Digital Active Gains Recognition with CKEditor
Proven Website Editor Strengthens ActiveCMS
 With dynamic web content continuing to be a high-priority for clients, Digital Active has expanded the functions within our ActiveCMS. The application is a powerful content management system for editing website content. Integrated into our software is CKEditor, an editing tool designed to offer developers like Digital Active the ability to integrate and enhance the editing functions within their own applications. The editor is a "What-you-see-is-what-you-get" (WYSIWYG) tool, meaning the content being edited looks as similar as possible to the results users will have when publishing the content. CKEditor offers a toolbar and editing features found on desktop editing applications such as Microsoft Word.
CKEditor has recognized our success in development and listed Digital Active on a partners' page along side notable companies such as IBM, Adobe and Oracle. Our status as a Project Sponsor with CKEditor allows us to continue with our success in development and we look forward to even more enhancements in the future.
