ETOM Connects with Members
Digital Active launches site with ActiveCMS and tools for collaboration
The Educational Technology of Michigan (ETOM) has a widespread network of offices and members throughout the state.  ETOM is a non-profit organization dedicated to the use of instructional telecommunications in higher education, focusing on distance learning. For the members of the organization, their basic website was not communicating efficiently.

ETOMThe new website, http://www.etom.org, has multiple tools that allow authorized staff to post events, change web content and post cyber polls. The system tracks enrollment from 28 institutions across the state of Michigan. With secure access areas, members and board members have access to view and export enrollment data, download meeting minutes, participate in members-only discussion forums, and access podcasts from ETOM events.

"Not only did Digital Active do a great job, their follow up on technical issues has been extraordinary," said Patti Davidson, Director of ETOM.

The new system has eased the workload of the ETOM staff by allowing each institution to manage their own contact information and upload enrollment data.

Historic Preservationists Get Active!
Digital Active announces the launch of ActiveOffice Building Management Tool Suite
Arbaugh Building
The Buildtech Development Group focuses on historical renovation and rehabilitating urban landmarks into mixed-use properties with both commercial and residential tenants. With the success of the renovated Arbaugh department store in downtown Lansing completed, Buildtech is currently rehabilitating the historic Durant Hotel in Flint, Michigan, the Standart building in Toledo, Ohio, and other properties in the Midwest.

The ActiveOffice system features an online login where tenants can view their history of payments and enter and follow maintenance requests. With secure access, property managers can view rent rolls and information on parking, storage and security access. On the property development side, the ActiveOffice system includes a secure file share system enabling architects, lenders, and partners to collaborate on property development. With the new online tools, developers Richard Karp and Kevin Prater are able to focus on upcoming projects while still having oversight on the properties currently being leased.

"We looked at Yardi property management, but the system was confusing and the cost was astronomical... the ActiveOffice tools give us control both during and after the project. We are nearly paperless, we have control over property management, and we are more efficient in managing new projects" said Karp.

The online access includes a mobile version allowing secure access to a mobile phone version of the information.

Retail Consulting Group utilizes ActiveApp to coordinate Nationwide Business
RCG Nissan MappingWith over 160 field representatives in all fifty states, Retail Consulting Group (RCG) and their clients, need to know who is where and when. RCG's client list includes Audi, Volkswagen, Nissan, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes Benz and more. RCG provides these auto manufacturers with customer service audits and consulting services. To plan and track the field representative's schedules, Digital Active has developed a web-based ActiveMap using databases from Google, USPS and Yahoo!. Once a meeting date for a field representative and a dealer is scheduled, both RCG staff and the client can access the system, enter the date of the appointment and pull the location of the dealership from the system's database. The system quickly creates a list of the closest field representatives utilizing a USPS database containing ZIP codes and their related latitude and longitude. The system calculates the distance between the two points and then displays, in order of proximity, the pool of possible field representatives while displaying their availability and contact information.

The ActiveMap application was created using a "mash-up" of databases. It utilizes Yahoo's geocoding API to transform physical addresses into encoded latitude-longitude (geocoded) values. It then overlays these values onto Google's map API to get a visual representation of the field representative's location in relation to the dealership.  Google's map API is also utilized to get approximate driving time and distance, as well as the retrieval of directions. All without leaving the RCG field representative site.

"This system has really helped expand my business. Our field reps are able to post their availability and our clients can always know who is available and schedule appointments. Customer satisfaction has been overwhelming" said Chuck Golden, President of RCG.

Based on the initial success, the system has been expanded to include the field reps in other consulting services provided by RCG.
