I Did It My Way
Darcy Rezac's Positive Networking Tip of the Week

I Did It My Way.
Apologies to Frank Sinatra, but to truly connect with someone when you are having a conversation you need to "do it their way." That means figuring out how people like to handle information and then adapting to their style. Do they like a high-energy approach or something mellow? Are they big picture thinkers or do they like to get 'granular'? A very common pitfall is the quiet talker. If that is your natural style it's important to be able to turn up the volume if people are asking you to repeat what you've said more than once or twice. And, most importantly maintain that higher volume.
