bki (Business Knowledge Initiative)
|
|
The
Business Knowledge Initiative (bki) continues to make an impact for
members and Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME) in our business community. Recently held
information sessions at the Chamber were well received. These included the Southern Ontario Development
Fund (SODP) and the Sustainable Development Technology Fund (SDTF). Businesses that were ready and aligned
in these areas were able to take advantage of strategic guidance and
assistance to review and even apply for these funds.
The
bki team is now meeting with members to profile their needs and align
the right resources for strategic IT, business development and
funding opportunities. We recognize that planning and preparation for
the future are key. To set up your appointment or find out more
information email teambki@newmarketchamber.ca.
Watch for additional information sessions being launched in January
on the website at www.newmarketchamber.ca.
Look for the bki logo and check out all the many ways to take
advantage of this great opportunity.

Networking Tip
As an entrepreneur, you are encouraged to get out there and network. Make
contacts and start building relationships by attending networking meetings
and promoting your business. This sounds like a good idea until you actually arrive at the networking
meeting. According to an article in
Psychology Today, "48 percent of people identify themselves as shy."
Is it any wonder that networking is difficult for many entrepreneurs? Consider this when at a Networking Meeting Don't try to sell your products or services. Networking is for
building relationships, not selling. When someone asks you what you do,
that doesn't mean she wants a sales presentation.
