GM Invests $117 Million in Oshawa

Canadians, rejoice! General Motors already builds many of their best models in Canada such as the Buick Regal, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Equinox - and as of next year, the flagship Cadillac XTS will join them.

GM announced a hefty $117 million investment in their Oshawa, Ontario facility, as well as 400 all-new or retained jobs.

Chevrolet has high expectations

for Cruze MPG

2011 Car of the Year keeps improving! See the Autoblog article on how Chevrolet is targeting 50 MPG with a diesel Cruze.

 cruzediesel

An Australian couple recently went on a 9,552 mile journey across the U.S in the Cruze Eco and averaged 64 MPG! How? Part of its success is  that the Cruze Eco was the first in the compact-car segment to offer an active air shutter that closes at higher speeds to reduce aerodynamic drag and opens at lower speeds to optimize engine-cooling airflow.

Engineers also made more than 42 changes to reduce weight on the Cruze Eco, such as light-weight 17-inch wheels and tires save 21.2 pounds per vehicle.

The Chevy Small-Car Era Begins with a 'Spark'

The new Chevrolet Spark is built to serve the mini car segment, the fastest growing new-car market in the world. The Spark is designed to be exciting and fresh, and offers exceptional levels of space and functionality. This small vehicle brings the benefits of five doors, five seats and luggage area that can be used effectively.

"While other minicars have erred to the side of cuteness, Chevy has taken the Spark in a more aggressive direction."

Chevrolet Sonic Safety: Ultra-Strength Steel and 10 Air Bags

The new 2012 Chevrolet Sonic comes with an array of safety features and sophisticated electronic control systems engineered to make it one of the safest vehicles in the small-car segment.

sonic wall

Some of the Sonic features include:

  • Dual-stage airbags for the driver and the front passenger
  • Roof-rail mounted head curtain airbags with rollover protection. The bags stay inflated longer than air bags developed only for side impacts, since rollover incidents can last longer. They also help keep occupants from being ejected.
  • Seat mounted side-impact airbags for front and outboard rear seat passengers are activated by sensors in the B-pillar and front door impact beams
  • A driver knee air bag and a segment-exclusive front passenger knee air bag can help reduce injury to lower extremities.
  • If the Sonic's onboard sensors register that the vehicle "tips up" on a flat road surface, the brakes are activated to reduce lateral force.
