December is a very exciting month at the Tricia Sloan Dance Center. The finishing touches are being placed on the Nutcracker production as rehearsals continue at the dance center. All of our students are working hard in their classes with great enthusiasm and spirit.
This newsletter contains important announcements, reminders, including Christmas and New Year's closing dates, infomation on Nutcracker ticket sales, automatic monthly payment sign-up and a solution to your "New Year's resolution"..

Nutcracker Tickets
Great seats still available !!
Plenty of great seats are still available for this wonderful Christmas story. Come support the TSDC dancers as they join several professional dancers in this performance of "The Nutcracker" on the big stage at Rowan University.
Our 7th annual production of the classic Christmas Ballet is being held on the Rowan U. campus in the Pfleeger Concert Center on the following dates:

All seats are $20 with plenty of free parking. There are group rates available for organizations. There is also a special "Meet & Greet the Performers" for Girl Scout Troops!
The Nutcracker is a wonderful way to kick off the holidays with your family and friends. It is a great introduction to our young students here at TSDC to their first live theatrical experience.

Last Call !! Backstage Tour
A special invitation is extended to all TSDC families to take a free tour of the backstage before each of the Nutcracker performances. Each tour will start 1 hour before the start of the performance.

Nutcracker Theme
Pre-School Classes in Nov. & Dec.
"Exploring Nutcracker" is the theme for the pre-school dance classes during November & December. As the children warm up and dance across the floor they will be listening to a narrated CD that tells the complete story in great detail.
During the classes our young students use their imaginations as they Chasse as Clara holding a pretend Nutcracker. Skip to the party! They select the color of their costume and hold their skirt while skipping. March like a soldier in the battle scene. Tippy toe and jump while pretending to be mice. Perform spring pointes to the Chinese music. Pique passe with Spanish arms and practice splits and straddles to the Arabian music.
To further enhance their classroom experience during November several members of the cast have visited their classes. Our two Claras and the class assistants came to class in character to meet the students and perform excerpts from the actual show.
We know this theme will be a favorite for all our future ballerinas. It will set the stage for them to appreciate the beautiful art of ballet while also being excited for the holidays!
