Nutcracker Theme set for Pre-School Classes in Nov. & Dec. The theme for the pre-school dance classes for Nov. & Dec. will be "Exploring Nutcracker". As the children warm up and dance across the floor they will be listening to a narrated cd that tells the complete story in great detail. During the upcoming weeks they will use their imaginations as they Chasse as Clara holding a pretend Nutcracker. Skip to the party! They will choose the color of their costume and hold their skirt while skipping. March like a soldier in the battle scene. Tippy toe and jump while pretending to be mice. Perform spring pointes to the Chinese music. Pique passe with Spanish arms and practice splits and straddles to the Arabian music.
To further enhance their classroom experience during the 2nd week of Nov. several members of the cast have volunteered to visit the classes. Either Elaina or Brenna, our Claras, and the class assistants will come to class in character to meet the students and perform excerpts from the actual show.
Another exciting activity will be a "Nutcracker Show & Tell". On this day a real nutcracker will be shown and discussed. The children will also see the actual tiara that the Sugar Plum Fairy wears!
We know this theme will be a favorite for all our future ballerinas and will set the stage for them to appreciate the beautiful art of ballet while being excited for the holidays! |
