Sammy ReyesIntroducing...
Sammy Reyes

For the past nine months our jazz funk classes have had the great fortune to be taught by our newest faculty member, Samuel Reyes.

Sammy has served as a prominent choreographer and dance teacher based in the Philadelphia area for over the past ten years.  He is a graduate of the University of the Arts where he was the recepient of the Cushman Acting Award and the Theater Ensemble Award.  Sammy went on to study dance with Ronen Koresh (Koresh Dance Co.), Rennie Harris (RennieHarrisPuremovement) and Kip Martin.

Sammy has performed with many local Philadelphia artists.  He  performed at the Prince Music Theatre in "St. Louie Women" and "Pal Joey" where he assisted Myra Bazell as dance captain and assistant choreographer. For this he was nominated for a Barrymore Award for best choreography in a musical.  He was also nominated for a Barrymore Award for his work on "Bombity of Errors" with Eleventh Hour Theatre Co.

Sam choreographed a national commercial for Forman Mills Co.  He recently completed touring the USA with television and radio artist Raven-Symone (Cheeta Girl, Cosby Show, "Olivia", That's So Raven).

In addition to working in theater, Sammy has taught dance at Muhlenberg College, Drexel University, LaSalle University and Temple University.   This past Jan./Feb. Sammy was the choreographer for the Media Theatre's production of "Altar Boyz" for which he received excellent reviews in area newspapers including the Phila. Inquirer.

Currently Sammy is the choreography for an original production of the "Berenstane Bears" which was commissioned by the Walnut Street Theatre.  Sammy had the honor to collaborate with the authors of the children's books to create a unique children's theatrical production.

Sammy also serves as the director of dance for the Walnut St. Theatre's summer camp for children.
We are thrilled to have Sammy join the faculty of TSDC!

Police

"New" Parking Regulations
The Council for the Boro of Wenonah has passed new parking regulations which directly effect our dance center.

1. There is now a passenger loading & unloading zone on North West Ave. Mon-Fri. 6-9PM. These means NO parking in this area during the posted days & times.

This will make it easier & much safer for parents to drop-off & pick-up their  dancers from TSDC.

2. There is also parking by permit only along North West Ave. in front of the residences on their side of the street.

We have made the head of the council aware of our need for more parking along North West Ave and several solutions are under consideration.
Thank you for taking a moment to read our newsletter in this new format.  We hope you enjoyed reading about some of our outstanding students and fun events at TSDC.  We look forward to sending you the latest news so that everyone will be informed of all our great accomplishments and upcoming events.

Sincerely,

Tricia, Patti, Shannon & James Sloan
