Creative Ideas ROL InsertROL in Lowe's Creative Ideas Magazine
As mentioned in the January News and Successes newsletter, the Real Outdoor Living message will be featured in Lowe's Creative Ideas Magazine next month. The magazine, which will feature the ROL insert pictured here, will be distributed to 650,000 homeowners East of the Mississippi. The Real Outdoor Living insert offers a warm, natural feel with inspirational photos, bullet points on pressure-treated wood and directions to the ROL Web site for project plans and additional information.

"Our recent consumer research indicated that many homeowners turn to the big box retailers (and their Web sites and publications) for decking product options," explains ROL's PR counsel Kim Drew. "Lowe's welcomed our promotional partnership to help them sell more Top Choice brand treated wood; they were excited to break new ground in the world of selling lumber and they loved our design ideas. The folks at Lowe's were wonderful to work with, and we look forward to many more strong, educational projects with them in the future."
What's Next for ROL?
The next five months will bring several outstanding opportunities to spread the word about real wood. The Real Outdoor Living campaign will be unveiling an updated Web site soon which streamlines existing information on www.realoutdoorliving.com, and adding a host of new projects and features. Here's a quick look at a few other prominent projects on the horizon:
  • Full sponsor for Country Living magazine's "Home Green Home of the Year 2010"
  • Ongoing work with national home improvement expert Danny Lipford;
  • Pressure-treated wood donations to the nationally syndicated "For Your Home" show on PBS this spring;
  • Pressure-treated wood garden shed project to be featured in fall 2010 issue of Southern Living, plus another exciting donation to the magazine this fall;
  • More movement on the retail front - Lowe's employees will soon be carrying Wood 101 pocket guides in their store aprons.
"The Real Outdoor Living campaign has accomplished an unbelievable amount in a very short time," says SLMA President Debbie Burns. "Campaign activity in the next five months will put a positive treated-wood message in front of pivotal audiences during the prime outdoor building season, and we are very excited to keep the momentum we've built moving forward."
