Depression in Pregnant Women
| By Amy LeSage Thankfully, there's hope with Oriental Medicine.
Up to 14 percent of pregnant women experience some kind of serious depression, a condition characterized by feelings of dread, gloom and hopelessness, as well as a loss of interest in normally pleasurable activities. The mom-to-be, if left untreated, could stop caring for herself, her fetus and someday, her child. Many women choose not to take antidepressants during their pregnancy for fear of harming the fetus.
Learn how acupuncture helped these mothers.

How Laser Therapy Can Help You
| By Bryan Ales, DC Therapeutic laser light accelerates wound healing and decreases inflammation and pain, as well as minimalizing scar tissue formation. It is proven to stimulate tissue repair and growth. The class IV laser treatment offered by Bryan Ales, DC, is side-effect free and non-addictive, providing dramatic results. Listed below are some of the benefits of laser therapy and the effects of healing reported in more than 2,500 scientific studies in the National Library of Medicine:
- Increased circulation
- Pain reduction
- Accelerated cell reproduction and growth
- Immune stimulation
- Muscle relaxation
- Improved vascular activity
- Encouragement of nerve regeneration
- Increased metabolic activity
Laser treatments work by increasing circulation, thus drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area(s). This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.
Class IV laser has power adjustable from 0.1 to 12 watts, delivering a therapeutic dosage to a large volume of tissue in a shorter period of time. Most important is its ability to target tissues that can't be penetrated by less powerful lasers.
