April 20, 2009 Breaking Through Self-Imposed Limitations "A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a twenty dollar bill. In the room of 200, he asked 'Who would like this twenty dollar bill?' Hands started going up. He said, 'I am going to give this twenty to one of you, but first let me do this.' He proceeded to crumple the bill up. He then asked, 'Who still wants it?' Still, the hands were in the air. 'Well,' he replied, 'What if I do this?' He dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. 'Now, who still wants it?' Still the hands remained in the air. 'My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to that money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth twenty dollars. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless-but no matter what happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you.' The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE. You are special, don't ever forget it. Always count your blessings, not your problems" I must confess, I love my work, teaching and coaching you to improve your life and help shape lifestyles to your ideal. Many join us, already doing great, and desirous of refinement, inspiration, and coaching to a higher level of health and life mastery. But so many come to me, crumpled and dirty, feeling beaten, judging themselves by their past and blind to the possibilities that lie before them. To these patients, I say, "You, too, are entitled to create a wonderful experience for yourself! You may have been through some rough times, but you are special in your own way, and you need to appreciate yourself for your own unique gifts and talents. There's no one quite like you, and there are plenty of people just waiting for what you have to offer, as long as you are willing to show up at your best." Every day, we have patients break through their previous self-imposed limitations, and discover something that they could have known all along - that they, and you, are fully-equipped for health, happiness, success, and fulfillment. You just need to learn how to use what you have to work with, and you, too, can have it all. OUR ARTICLE OF THE WEEK IS ... "An Ally Against Calories: Water" US News & World Report, October 13. 2008.
