Commodore's Ball PicturesFrom the Bridge:

The Commodore's Ball was great fun.  We had cocktails in the barn and on the lawn to the south of the club.  Palm Trees swayed in the breeze and tropical music could sometimes be heard over the conversation.  A club opti housed a raw-bar and although I would  like to take credit for the perfect weather, it was way out of my control and was way beyond my expectations..  If you attended, I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did.  I believe the summer is off to a great start.  Many, many thanks  to everyone who helped.

You may have heard that we had a problem with the beach inspection over Memorial Day Weekend.  Fortunately it seems to have been just an aberration and all of the water testing done since May 20 has shown our beach area to be well above safe levels for swimming. The lifeguards are currently on duty from 10am-6pm (weather permitting) on Saturdays & Sundays and will be on duty everyday as soon as school gets out.

Even though the club is only partially staffed during June, there is a lot going on;  our Junior Sailors have begun practicing on Tuesday & Thursdays after school, I hear the Lasers have begun Tuesday Evening Racing, the WOW fleet has been seen around the club on Wednesday evenings, the weekend of June 20 & 21 is the annual Flash Bash Lightning Regatta and Father's Day Brunch on Sunday.  It is a very busy June and only the beginning.

See you at the club,

BOATER'S SAFETY COURSE OFFERED AT WBYC
boat
There will be a Boater's Safety Course offered at Willow Bank Yacht Club on Mondays, June 29  and  July 6 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM each evening.

Youth between the ages of 10 and 18 who want to operate a motor boat in New York State alone and anyone who wants to operate a personal watercraft (Jet Ski) must successfully complete this course and receive an operators' certificate.. The course and materials are provided free of charge to participating youth and adults.
The course follows a state-mandated outline and covers topics such as rights-of -way, safety equipment, water skiing procedures, and unlawful practices.  Both sessions of the course must be attended and an exam passed at the completion of the course in order to receive the certificate.

The course is being sponsored by the Cazenovia Lake Association, Willow Bank Yacht Club and the Madison County Sheriff's Department in association with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation.

There is no fee for the course and all materials needed will be provided but you must pre-register.  Interested persons should contact Anne King at 655-2244. Please leave a message with your name, number of people to register and contact phone number.

RENOVATE & CAZENOVIA LAKE

Junior FleetThe Renovate treatment was completed on June 10 in the afternoon so the passing of the milfoil should begin. In 4-5 days you should see some withering and and in 2-3 weeks it should be completely gone from the application areas. This year Renovate was applied to the north end of the Lake as well as down about half way on both shorelines. There should be some great before and after visuals beginning 4th of July weekend. Just remember that even in treated areas you will see some patches of milfoil growing as Allied guarantees a 90 % kill rate and there will be fragments that reseed but we expect it to be more nuisance than choking. We'll keep you posted on when you can drink the water and use it for watering flowers and vegetables.

Check out the Town of Cazenovia Website for more information!

MOORING LABELS & NOTES
image
When you received your Mooring Stickers in May, did you put them on your boat or are they still on your desk or in your car?  Please make sure your put them on your boat!  If you lost your sticker(s)  please email me or call 655-2008.  Email is preferred.  If you don't remember where your boat is supposed to be, check out the mooring maps on the website.

If you have brought a boat to the club and haven't sent in a mooring application or talked to me, please do so ASAP!

Also please remember to remove trailers from club property as soon as you can.  It is against our zoning to keep empty trailers and you face a $200/month fine for leaving your trailer unattended.
