From the Bridge:

The ice is finally gone from the lake and summer can not be very far away.  It has been a long cold winter and I, for one, am seriously looking forward to spending some quality time enjoying our great yacht club.

We are trying something new this summer. Last year, we did some e-mail blasts to keep you appraised of current goings on and this year, we are expanding our electronic communications to replace some of our regular newsletters.

We will be sending out two or three paper newsletters which will contain information you may want to post on your fridge; social calendar, flyers for youth programs, etc.  Periodically, we will also be sending out Electronic Newsletters which will contain more current information;  Sign ups for social events, upcoming regattas, and other news from the club.  We are hoping that this will keep us all more in touch and involved with WBYC!

This is a work in progress, so I am expecting that these newsletters will evolve as we get feedback from you on what you like/dislike, etc.  I will be  looking to publish content from members, pictures from regattas, lost and found notes, classified ads and other information you might come up with.

The return e-mail comes directly to me, so please feel free to comment.

See you at the club,

WORK PARTIES

Putting in Sailboat Dock

Spring Work Parties begin on Sunday, April 29th.  You can find a work party schedule posted on the club website and detailed in the club calendar you received in January.  If you have a problem and would like to switch days, just let Rich Hartt know and he will try to accomodate your request.

There is always a great deal of work to be done to get the club ready for the summer, so come on down and give us a hand.  As an added bonus, everyone who comes down and works at one of our work parties will be entitled to a 50% discount on many items at the Ship's Store!

SHIP'S STORE

50 percent offA group of dedicated volunteers have been working hard to ensure that the Ship's Store gets a major upgrade this year.  We don't want to give away the surprise, but we do want to give away (at rock bottom prices) some of our current inventory.  Come down during any Work Party and receive 50% off of the regular price of many items.
MOORING NOTES

Pretty soon the boats are going to come out of the clubhouse and be put back into their rightful homes for the summer.  If your boat will be in the same spot it was in last year you don't need to do anything but you will need to put the new sticker on when you recieve it in the mail. If you need new labels, you want a new spot, have a new boat or are not bringing your boat down to the club, you need to let us know as soon as you can, so we can get the moorings sorted out as early as possible.

The New 2009-2012 Rules Are Here
Rules Book
On January 1, 2009, the new edition of The Racing Rules of Sailing went into effect. On the Scuttlebut website, Dave Perry, Chairman of the US SAILING Appeals Committee, explained some of the game changes that the new rules will create. Everyone sailing at WBYC this summer should be aware of the new rules as they will govern all of our racing.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

The flyers for 2009 summer youth programs will be included in the paper newsletter being sent out at the end of April.  We are very excited about our programs this summer and if you can't wait until they are mailed to you, you can download copies from the website.
