Cycling as it once was
As the modern world of cycling moves toward electronically controlled bikes of ever-more exotic materials, and fuel for cycling devolves into chemical goo squeezed from Mylar packets, we look back to the era when cycling was less scientific but more fun. Our tours are far from easy but they embrace a spirit of enjoyment derived not from who can ride the fastest or who has the fanciest bike, but simply from the timeless joy of cycling in Italy "like it used to be." Featured Tour:
La Corsa Rosa
We've always loved the Giro, in fact it's in some ways the reason we first met! We've gone to see stages of the race almost every year (if we've had the chance) and for 2013 we decided to share the experience with a small number of you. This tour won't have all the details worked out years in advance like our normal offerings but we'll promise fun and adventure seeing the "world's toughest race in the world's most beautiful place" as the Giro folks say.
We're still working on the exact itinerary for our La Corsa Rosa tour, May 20-27, 2013. We'll put the details on the BLOG as soon as we have them. We're working on seeing (and possibly riding) the stage 18 chronoscalata with an overnight in Vicenza and either stage 19's finish on Val Martello OR stage 20's finish on Tre Cime di Lavaredo. The final decision should hinge on which of our long-time hotel partners can reserve lodging for us - we want to take care of our guests in the style they've come to expect from CycleItalia.

Interbike 2012
Larry always enjoys visiting the big Interbike bicycle show. It's not about the bicycles and equipment as much as it is the PEOPLE. It's much easier to visit our Italian friends here than find them in Italy during the season. And you never know who else you might see there. On the top row you can see Larry posing with Daniela of Campagnolo followed by a shot with famous sport director Davide Boifava flanked by Bill McGann of McGann publishing. The second row shows Larry posing with Super Mario and again with Edoardo and Celestino Vercelli of VITTORIA shoes. The third row shows Larry posing with the nice ladies of the Italian Trade Commission (who run the espresso machine!) and finally with Paola Santini, Steve Medcroft and Monica Santini of, well, you guessed it.... Santini. Finally we have Alessandro (the one with hair!) Larry and Gianluca of Albabici and a photo of the promo posters displayed by RCS, owners of the Giro d'Italia.

Book review:
Italian Racing Bicycles
This book should be on the coffee table or bookshelf of any TRUE fan of Italian cycling! Strong words? Yes. Written by the same author as the wonderful Campagnolo-75 Years of Passion, Italian Racing Bicycles exudes that same passion for the people and products that are so much a part of the Italian cycling experience. You'll enjoy the photos new and old while imagining yourself pedaling one of these beauties in Italy on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended!
