It is hard to believe that summer has ended and the fall is here!  This fall there are many exciting things happening at the HCMA that we want to share with you.  To begin with the Summit on HCM is to take place October 16-19, 2009 in Minneapolis.  This medical education program is the 4th Summit on HCM chaired by Dr. Barry J. Maron.  The HCMA is looking forward to being at the Summit and hearing the latest in research and advances in our understanding of HCM.  We hope to see all of our HCM Center friends at the Summit!
For patients we will be holding a patient day at Mayo Clinic on October 10, 2009 with the wonderful HCM Center staff on hand to answer all of your questions.  We look forward to seeing all of our HCMA families there. 
Remember October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month - get your awareness stickers from the HCMA and help us educate people and save lives!
 
HCM Summit
October 16-19 2009!
    This summit will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn the
clinical, morphologic and genetic spectrum of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
(HCM) from a world-renowned faculty. The program will explore the diverse
views on the natural history and assessment of risk for sudden death.
Who Should Attend
Practicing cardiologists, internists, pediatricians and other health care
professionals with an interest in HCM.
Clinicians and basic researchers directly involved with cardiomyopathies.

lisaThe HCMA CEO and Founder was interviewed for OurBlook.com website and asked to share her thoughts on health care reform.  As a representative of an organization with thousands of members from all over the world and experience with navigating our current health care system.
She is also a former health plan administrator and author of two books on Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy.
Salberg has done what few has done - she has actually read the proposed Obama health bill. She shares her thoughts on the healthcare debate and her experience in the medical system.

As we all know HCM is the leading cause of SCA in the young.  With greater awareness about HCM we may be able to prevent SCA in those at risk.  We need to help educate the general public about HCM - this decal created by the HCMA is one way to do it!  To order a packet use this link.
