WATCH OUT FOR THIS EMAIL

A member just sent this e-mail to me. This is a fraudulent e-mail that is being sent around. The bad guys are hoping that you click on the areas that they have set up to be clicked on. Once you click on them, BANG, you are open to spyware, malware and all sorts of potential viruses. If you receive anything that looks suspicious, delete it immediately. If you would like to alert your fellow credit union members to be on the look out for suspicious e-mails, please let me know about it and I will pass it on.

DEBIT CARD FRAUDULENT TRANSACTIONS

We have had a few members notice that there were several transactions on their account that they did not authorize.  The transactions appear to be coming from the North Carolina and South Carolina area and appear to be targeting Walmart and other retail stores in that area.  Please go online at our web site and check out your transactions on your checking accounts.  I am not putting any additional information out here about how to access your account.  If you don't know how please call the Credit Union.  It is always wise to review your transactions every day or so.  It is also crucial that the Credit Union have a telephone number that we can reach you in an emergency.  Our Fraud Department is reviewing debit card authorizations 24/7 and if it appears that authorizations are coming in against your account that is out of the ordinary, the Fraud Department will contact you with the number we have on the system.  If it is a bad telephone number, then your card may be frozen immediately without you knowing it until you go to use it somewhere.  Don't let that happen!  Make sure we have your cell phone number.

FINALLY, we will never send you an e-mail and ask for your social security, account number or any other personal information.  You should always refer to your monthly or quarterly statement for the credit union telephone number or web site.  Don't rely on an e-mail to get these numbers or addresses.  Protect yourself out there.
