June 2009 Health and Wellness

Welcome to Summer!  Many people around the world will observe spiritual and religious seasonal days of celebration during the month of June.  Most will be religious holy days which are linked in some way to the summer solstice.  The time of the year when the sun reaches its maximum elevation occurs on the summer solstice, the day with the greatest number of daylight hours.  It typically occurs on, or within a day or two of June 21 - the first day of summer.
"Solstice" is derived from two Latin words; "sol"meaning sun, and "sistere," to cause to stand still.  This is because, as the summer solstice approaches, the noonday sun rises higher and higher in the sky on each successive day.  On the day of the solstice, it rises an imperceptible amount, compared to the day before. In this sense it "stands still".  So, let us enjoy the longer days of summer and bask in the light, enjoying friends, family and all that nature has to offer.

What Is Energy Work?
To understand Energy Work you need to first understand energy. When we are speaking about energy in this context we mean that everything on this planet gives off some sort of energy field...When this energy is flowing freely without constriction there is no problem, and the person, animal, or object is fine, but the problem occurs when there is a blockage in the flow of energy.  When a blockage in the energy flow occurs we, as energy workers, must use some form of energy work, such as Reiki, to free the flow of energy...When we do this the energy should begin to flow freely again, at that point what ever physical or mental symptom that has manifested should at that point either go away or begin to subside...if the flow has been obstructed for a long period of time it may take more than one treatment for the energy flow to return to normal.  This is an effective safe way to treat people that suffer from stress, headaches, or some emotional issues.  It is not to be used instead of seeing a doctor or mental health professional, but used in conjunction with treatment from a medical professional

If you would like to learn more about Reiki and experience a session first hand, give me a call and set up an appointment!.
