Call House: Vote Against Override of Governor's Budget Veto June 13, 2011 Greetings!
Yesterday, Governor Perdue vetoed the House-Senate budget that was sent to her on June 4.
Please call the Governor's office and thank her for standing against this damaging budget. Governor's Office: 919-733-4240 or email governor.office@nc.gov
The House and Senate will now have to vote to override the Governor's veto, which they are expected to do this week - maybe even tomorrow.
The Senate already has the required votes to override the veto. In the House, however, five Democrats voted with the majority to pass the budget. The majority needs four of those five to vote with them to override the Governor's veto. So far the five representatives are refusing to change their positions, but let's not let up the pressure yet!
ACTION ITEM - Contact Swing Legislators to Urge Them to Vote AGAINST Veto Override As mentioned above, despite some improvements in Education and Health and Human Services, the House-Senate Compromise budget is still a bad budget for children. Particularly in the areas of Medicaid and early education, the budget represents a rollback of our long time state investments in children and families. This severe of a rollback would not be necessary if current revenues were maintained.
CONTACT LEGISLATORS' OFFICES Please contact the following five Representatives and encourage them to vote against overriding the Governor's veto.
