June 6, 2011
Greetings!
The Senate and House have both passed a bad budget for children and families. Governor Perdue is now deciding whether to veto the budget.
Please contact these swing legislators and urge them to vote AGAINST a veto override.

(From our friends at MomsRising:)
Last week, we raised $140 at a lemonade stand across from the General Assembly that will be going into the General Fund to support kids' programs. More importantly, we delivered a message that NC families are willing to help raise revenue and we expect our lawmakers to as well. Now we're taking our lemonade stand on the road and need your help to get the word out to your members in these counties. - Monday: We will be in Rep. Brisson's district from 11:30a-1:30p selling lemonade at the Corner Café at 101 East Broad St, Elizabethtown, NC. The counties in this legislator's district are Bladen and Cumberland.
- Tuesday morning: We will be in Rep. Spear's district from 11:30a-1:30p selling lemonade at the Edenton Furniture Store, 211 South Broad Street, Edenton, NC. The counties in this legislator's district are Chowan, Dare, Hyde, and Washington.
- Tuesday afternoon: We will be in Rep. Owens district from 3:00p-5:00p selling lemonade at thePasquotank County Courthouse, 113 North Elliott Street, Elizabeth City. The counties in this legislator's district are Camden, Currituck, Pasquotank, and Tyrrell.
If you have members in this area, we would love to meet them in person, and to have them come out and support a balanced approach to the budget.
Sincerely, Action for Children North Carolina |
