May 3, 2011

Greetings!

The House budget is final, and it includes severe cuts across state government, including detrimental cuts to children's programs and services. Click here for details.
  • Early education is cut 20%, much more than most other areas of the budget.
  • The House proposed cuts to K-12 education that are twice as deep as those proposed by the Governor, including eliminating teaching assistants above 1st grade and more.
  • House proposed cuts to Health and Human Services programs are more than twice as deep as those proposed by the Governor, including sharp cuts to Medicaid.
TAKE ACTION! Contact your Senators and let them know that you expect a better Senate budget proposal than what came out of the House! Go to www.ncleg.net to find your Senators' contact information, then write, call or email today.

Even our children know this budget is bad news! Call your Senators today! Children holding sign: What's Next? Dirt floors in the schoolhouse?

Sincerely,
