SEPTEMBER 2012

Dear  ,

Our Chamber is busy working on finalizing the scheduled events for the remainder of the year, and we are putting together our calendar for 2013.  We hope to have it finalized by November for distribution.  Please feel free to contact the Chamber office if you are interested in hosting a Mayor's Coffee Hour or WestNet as we have some months still open. Call 568.1618.

We are also working on developing some workshops for next year and a member survey will be going out in October.  I am looking forward to getting your responses so that we may develop workshops that are of interest to you.

In the works is also an Ambassador Program.  If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador to a new member, please call the office to sign up. This program is to assist our new members with feeling welcomed to our Chamber and getting them acclimated to the many events, committees, and programs they can attend.  Call 568.1618 to become an Ambassador!

Our September Chamber breakfast hosted by the 104th Fighter Wing at the ANG base in Westfield was a huge success.  The Chamber recognized two businesses who were celebrating anniversaries.  Below are the pictures:

Sunshine Village celebrates its 45th Anniversary

Pioneer Valley Railroad celebrated its 30th Anniversary

Our September WestNet was a huge success with over 50 people attending (not counting spouses, girlfriends and Liberty!)  Thank you Stevens 470 for hosting.  Here are a few pictures:

Let's Welcome:

Public Television for Western New England

WGBY, Public Television, has been serving western New England for more than 40 years. Its mission is to connect the people of our region with ideas, events and each other to fulfill their aspirations, enrich their lives and improve their communities.

WGBY, with its large and dedicated audience, is an excellent marketing partner for many organizations.  WGBY is a multi-channel, multimedia platform with a four-state reach. WGBY has four broadcast and cable channels (WGBYDT/HD, WGBY Create, WGBY World, and WGBY Kids). Our main channel penetrates all of western Massachusetts, most of Connecticut, and parts of New Hampshire and Vermont. WGBY 57 reaches 99 percent of television households in western Massachusetts, and studies show that many of our viewers do not watch other television stations. We have a large viewing audience that is tracked by Nielsen and that routinely overwhelms the audience of cable-only channels. Furthermore, in 2012, for the 9th year in a row, according to a Roper Public Affairs & Media Survey, PBS is viewed as the most trusted institution in the United States.

WGBY's many programs and our broad-based marketing platform give us multiple "touch-points" with the people in our far-reaching community and afford our sponsors enormous potential to reach their customers.  Beyond our on-air programs, WGBY has a membership program with more than 15,000 members who receive regular mailings; a web site that attracts thousands of visitors each week; approximately 13,000 e-news subscribers; and a monthly printed newsletter that has a circulation of approximately 15,000. We also have very active Education and Community Outreach programs. Each year, WGBY delivers educator workshops throughout the Commonwealth, helping teachers to stay current on education topics, media integration, and instructional skills. We also support a video lending library that delivers more than 1,300 titles to classrooms throughout western Massachusetts, and our "Ready to Learn" early childhood education program, delivered to schools, libraries, and day care centers, has an annual audience of approximately 4,000 parents, children, and educators.
