This workshop will focus on identifying by sight and sound. Beginners will learn how to use binoculars effectively and how to focus on the important characteristics of different groups of birds. Participants at all skill levels will benefit from discussions on the fine points of plumage and song that clinch a bird's identity. We will walk through a variety of habitats in the sanctuary during the early part of spring migration, stopping to enjoy both resident songbirds and early-arriving tropical migrants as they feed and sing. We may encounter as many as fifty difference species, including Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Oriole, and several species of warbler. Bring a pair of binoculars if you have one.
