Greetings!

It's been a great spring at Re-Member as we've welcomed over 200 volunteers since late February to Pine Ridge.

FIVE bunk beds installed

SIX firewood deliveries

NINE trailers skirted

FOUR decks/steps built

TWO outhouses delivered

THOUSANDS of pounds of food and relief supplies

We look forward to seeing you, if your trip is later this summer, but we want to remind those of you who have not yet booked your trip that there is still space available this season to come see us.

Paula, our new volunteer trip coordinator is doing great work preparing groups for their time with us here on the rez. Get in touch with Paula at trips@re-member.org and start planning your visit.

Those of us full-timers at Re-Member rely heavily upon our part-time staff, the Program Managers who join us throughout the season to keep things running, and we've had a great start to 2011 with Otis from East Lansing, Michigan. Thanks, Otis!

You'll find our latest videos on Facebook, and a number of other great updates below in our "Updates from the Rez" section. We love hearing from you, so please keep the posts coming on our Facebook page.

Through growing partnerships, we're also increasing our outreach efforts across the reservation. From community gardening to food distribution days, to community give aways, we are leveraging the goodwill of our volunteers with the entire reservation, and we are making a difference.

All of these efforts culminate in a program that we hope you find valuable, meaningful and with purpose. If you have any questions or thoughts, please share them with us.

So, when ya comin?

Ted Skantze, Director

Updates from the Rez

April 10 was a "Night to Re-Member" in Ann Arbor as friends of Re-Member gathered for an evening of music and fellowship. Thank you to board member Karen Koeppe who coordinated this wonderful evening, raising $1255 in donations for Re-Member.

Our video posting continues on Facebook, with Jerry sharing "The birdie song", Ted catching up with "The Re-Member band" and Otis and Bryan showing off their hoolahoop skills.

CALLING ALL RUNNERS:

The Michigan Turtle Trot is only a few months away. Come trot with us on June, 25! Details (and registration) can be found on our website

Paula, our volunteer trip coordinator continues to process reservations for the 2011 season. There are already over 1,100 reservations on the books, but we are happy accepting inquiries for available space -- and are actively seeking more volunteers for our late August and September weeks.

As we recently informed you, the Oglala Sioux Tribe is collecting tax on our volunteer trip fees. Additionally, all goods sold in our canteen will be subject to a 4% tax. You can read the details in our original message.

Sincerely,

"Building Relationships on Pine Ridge Reservation"
