Dear Easy Divers, It is with great excitement that this newsletter is coming to you! After almost two months of refurbishment, our pool area, classroom, gear room, Stock Room & office are once again open and ready for business. We are excited about two new additions to our calendar this month; our Scuba Boot Camp and our First Fridays. We are always looking for ways to foster our friendships, and make available fun ways for our divers to stay engaged and challenged with their diving skills. Our two new activities are designed to do just that. In addition to fun close to home, we are also gearing up for our first local trip to Panama City Beach on Feb 25th and our first gala trip to the Big Island of Hawaii on March 19th. We invite all of you, divers new & old to join us as we kick off what we hope will be our best year ever! Thank you for your patronage (and patience as we were under construction) and your referrals.

First Fridays
Calling all divers, snorkelers, vacationers, travelers or anyone who just likes to have fun! Since there is no reason that all our fun and adventure has to be limited to our travel times, we are instituting parties on the first Friday of each month up through May. Meet us at: Game Time Sports Grill & Wings, 11695 Hwy 70, suite #110, Arlington, TN 38002 ( map it) from 6:00 until 10:00 for Dutch treat dinner or snack and drinks. February hosts: Randy & Cookie will be showing great pictures of their past trips aboard The Juliet, our favorite live aboard vessel. There are a few spots for lucky travelers still open for the June 26th sailing, so come ready with all of your questions and find out everything you ever wanted to know about life on the high seas in the Bahamas. Not ready to commit to a trip yet? Come and laugh, play, tell stories, and meet your next dive buddy or traveling companion. Hope to see you there!

 Five Step Procedure to Descend
- SIGNAL, OK to go down
- ORIENT, face your buddy and the direction you would like to go
- REGULATOR, make sure you have your regulator IN
- TIME, note the time or start your dive computer
- DEFLATE, slowly remove air from your BC to start sinking
Five Step Procedure to Ascend
- SIGNAL, OK to go up
- LOOK, look up and all around
- REACH, one arm up over head, other hand on low pressure inflator hose to vent expanding air
- KICK, kick up slowly, maintaining a slower than 60 feet a minute ascent rate
- INFLATE, when your chin is at the surface, inflate your BC and establish positive buoyancy
Sixty Second Rule Evaluating conditions and determining if YOU should dive on any given day, is one of the trickiest decisions to make. Judgment is critical and it is impossible to teach! The sixty second rule states: IF IN DOUBT DON'T! If it takes you longer than 60 seconds to make up your mind, then there is probably enough information to make you stop and take a second look. Talk to your Divemaster or PADI Dive Professional to see if additional specialty or advanced training might be a good idea. Also, discuss your concerns to see if it makes sense to stretch out of your comfort zone just a little to gain some new experience. Be smart, make good decisions, and you are more likely to love diving.
