Letter from the President
Dear Friends,

The New Year is almost upon us and at NAHREP we are already busy making plans for the months ahead. While we're still in the midst of the holidays, we are moving forward with plans for our 2009 Legislative Conference - an event that is sure to be distinctive given the upcoming inauguration of President Obama and a new administration. Once again, we will be joining with other people of color at our legislative conference to help raise the profile of issues that affect multicultural homebuyers and homeowners.
We hope to forge productive partnerships with the new administration as we seek to keep them connected with issues on Main Street that affect you and your buyers. While this has been a difficult time for many of us with the ever-pressing trials of a volatile market, we believe that better days are just around the corner. Only the persistent, dedicated professionals will emerge from this period with stronger skills and breadth of experience that comes from surviving one of the worst real estate markets of modern times. This too shall pass.
In the meantime, it's vital for all of us to stay connected with one another and to share our insights about the forces that are affecting our local markets. We can't expect others to help our community. We must be our own biggest champions. We will call on you to be part of the solution as we make our way in 2009 and remain a vigilant voice for homeownership for all Americans.
Thank you for all your support in 2008. Best wishes for a peaceful holiday and a prosperous New Year.
Timothy Sandos
NAHREP President and CEO
