| NDANO announces new partnership with ND Young Professionals Network |
NDANO is pleased to announce a new partnership with the ND Young Professionals Network (NDYP) to promote and support increased involvement of the state's young professionals with nonprofit organizations. The partnership's first initiative is to connect NDANO member nonprofits seeking new board members with young professionals interested in getting more involved in their communities. "This partnership with NDYP will expand the potential pool of board members for NDANO members and encourage young professionals to develop deeper connections with nonprofits through board service," says Dana Schaar, NDANO executive director. "North Dakota nonprofits have expressed the need for new, fresh voices on their boards, and this partnership will better connect young professionals with nonprofits." "The NDYP is very excited about the opportunity to partner with NDANO," says Aaron Hill, NDYP chairperson. This partnership provides a working example of NDYP's goal to engage young professionals within their communities. Through this partnership, we can work towards achieving the same goal; connecting people to better our communities and ourselves. We look forward to using our combined resources to assist communities across the state of North Dakota." Have a board opening? Get the word out in NDYP newsletterNDANO members interested in advertising board member openings to NDYP members should submit information about open board positions to NDANO by completing this form. More about NDYPIn July 2006, Governor Hoeven in collaboration with the Rural Development Council hosted a statewide summit for young professionals. In response to the summit, Young Professionals (YP) organizations across the state united to form NDYP. Connecting Communities, Connecting You is the theme of NDYP, which can be seen in the 10 YP networks in the state. YP networks engage in social, professional development and service activities, and there are more than 1,200 Young Professionals in North Dakota. Local YP networks use NDYP to share best practices, events and mentor emerging networks. | |

| Meet a Member - Bowman County Development Corporation |
The mission of the Bowman County Development Corporation (BCDC) is to encourage and assist in the development of employment, industry, tourism and economic attributes within Bowman County. Each year, strategic plan goals are revisited and new goals set for what needs to be accomplished to continue the growth of the county and its cities. In Bowman County, the BCDC serves as a catalyst for many projects that grow the community financially, physically and mentally. The BCDC offers loan, grant and other financial incentive programs that make starting, expanding or relocating a business to the community financially attractive. Partnering with other state organizations, the BCDC makes business plans attainable to entrepreneurs and sees them through from idea to ribbon cutting. Several new business ventures within the county each year are made possible or enhanced by the BCDC. Without a Convention and Visitors Bureau in the county, the BCDC takes on the roles of community marketing and acts as a community caller information center with the local Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, the BCDC joined forces with Bowman County, the City of Bowman and the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce to create an overall branding and marketing campaign for the community, most notably creating the new website set to go live this month. The BCDC is an often silent member in many local community projects, but is able to provide the man hours and resources needed to get the job done. The number one goal of the BCDC is to make Bowman County a great place to live, work and raise a family - and to let others know about it! Learn more about the BCDC by contacting Ashley Alderson at 701-523-5880 or visiting the website.
