What is a "Webinar"?
"Webinar" is short for "Web-based seminar," a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web. A key feature of a Webinar is its interactive element -- the ability to give, receive and discuss information -- but in the privacy of your own home or office.
In other words, all you need is the internet and a phone!
You access the visual portion of the webinar through the internet. And you access to the audio portion of the webinar using your phone.
The webinar host gives you the internet address (URL) with a password for logging on, and a phone number to call at the reserved date and time. That's it!
Now that you see how easy it is, sign up for our next "Ask the Doc" webinar: Tuesday, November 9th, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. EST (NY time). Click HERE to register.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: It's All About School
I received this wonderful report recently from the mother of a 12-year-old Maverick who completed the Brain Engineering Labs program:
Our son is no longer homeschooling and is now attending a local private school. He is loving it and has adapted very well. He has been dedicated and hardworking. His midterm grades were all A's and B's. All of his teachers spoke highly of him at our parent teacher conference. We are thrilled! Thank you for your insight and help at a critical time in his life.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is from another Maverick Mom. The family lives in Indonesia and the Mom was very involved in supervising her 9-year-old son's BE Labs programs at home, but she also became an ally and advocate for her son at school.
When I've finished reading your book [Maverick Mind] I saw my son so differently. As he improved under your guidance, I started to introduce Brain Engineering at school.
At school, the teachers are really amazed with his progress ... Now, it seems like he is strong enough to continue to do the same work that his friends do. So when the teacher gave a math quiz in the class, he could join perfectly in it.
His independence also engages him with his other classmates. Other kids start to help and pay more attention to him because they feel that he is easier to get along with right now.
These changes are happening because of my work with you. I am providing Brain Engineering materials and ideas to support my son at school...
Today I stayed at school to see how the teacher guides him ... So for language, the teacher follows my instruction and does the practice of making the sentences, the way you have shown me.
He has a big picture and he has three choices of sentences to choose for the given picture and when he gets them right the teacher cuts the sentence into words and he combines to make the sentences himself again after the teacher shuffles the words.
Now he understands to see and check the teacher's response even though she's at the other edge of the classroom ... He also started to join the class quiz in mathematics for something that he mastered, which means he's following the pace of the teacher with the other students together.
I'm still studying the Best Practices provided in my Brain Engineering Classes. Once I'm done I'll give a copy to the principal of the school so she could understand my son more. She's a very nice principal too, I'm sure she would help me more when she reads it.

A Most Unexpected Recognition
I have traveled all over the U.S. and to many other countries as an advisor and presenter on brain science and language and communication development. So I am not completely surprised when someone recognizes my name, especially in conjunction with my book Maverick Mind.
However, I was recognized in a most unusual way last month. A cable technician had worked on my internet problems for about six hours, but couldn't solve them.
And then Juan arrived. He analyzed the situation, and quickly went to work repairing and resetting the system.
All of a sudden, the cable connection to the modem was restored, and my name came up on the computer screen.
Juan stared at the name, and then stared at me. He repeated my name several times. "Cheri Florance. Dr. Cheri Florance," he said. And then, "I know you! You're are a scientist who works with the mind, aren't you? And you wrote a book. My doctor told me to read that book!"
I am still smiling over this recognition, which was almost as satisfying as being inducted into my hometown Hall of Honor!

Dr. Florance Inducted Into Hometown Hall of Honor
I was honored recently to be inducted into the Delaware City Schools (Ohio) Distinguished Alumni Hall of Honor, along with three other accomplished alumni, Douglas Gordin, Tiffany Lefevre Lillie, and Nicholas Shaheen. The ceremony in which the induction took place not only recognizes and honors district-area graduates who have made exceptional achievements, but is also an occasion to help inspire the school's students.
You can read the newspaper report of the occasion here. I was especially proud that my mother, Dotty Florance, was present at the event, and a friend of almost 50 years, Kerry Shanklin, introduced me.
I was truly honored to be included in this group of illustrious people who, like me, are passionate about their work.

Thank you for reading. If your child has been diagnosed with symptoms related to a strong visual brain interfering with his or her ability to develop language skills, there is a good prognosis for your child becoming symptom-free through our programs.
I look forward to hearing from you,
