SENATOR ZEB LITTLE INTRODUCES COMPANION BILL FOR HBAA'S STATEWIDE BUILDING CODE
|
Senator Zeb Little of Cullman this week introduced SB 448, the Senate version of the HBAA's Statewide Building Code legislation. This legislation is a group effort by the Code Officials of Alabama, insurance industry, general contractors, architects, engineers, counties, and cities with the purpose of providing a building code for the entire state. Fire officials have already expressed their displeasure with the bill due to their concerns that residential fire sprinklers will not be a part of the code. The HBAA will be meeting with the Code Officials next week to answer any unresolved issues and address some of the fire officials' concerns. HB 633 (Scott, Fairfield) may come before the Commerce Committee as early as next Wednesday. If you speak with your Representative, ask him to support this important legislation.
