Christology

The Christology of the Family

By the Rev. Michael Lessard

This book is about learning to care for one another as Christ cares for us. The family has been affected by our culture of entertainment and immediacy and lost sight of its primary purpose----to care for one another as the Good Shepherd cares for His sheep. The Christian family needs to reclaim the heart of the Gospel and create new disciples, not just church members. All disciples are to be caregivers, whether at home with family, at work, or in the Church. Learn more here.

Winter Conference 2012

Winter Conference 2012

Now Open: Winter Conference Registration!

Although Scripture is filled with examples of the presence and power of the Spirit operating in everything from the actual creation of our world (Genesis 1:2) to the transforming "new creation" of our personal lives (2 Cor. 3:18), the Holy Spirit has often been overlooked or ignored. At next year's Winter Conference in Houston, Texas, we will seek to correct this all too frequent omission. The theme for next year's conference will be "The Holy Spirit: Power for Mission."

Bishop Terrell Glenn Resigns from theAM

Terrell Glenn On November 9, during a regularly scheduled Council of Bishops meeting, Bishop Terrell Glenn resigned from the Anglican Mission and its Council of Bishops. Clergy Wives Find Respite at "Chosen" Retreat

Chose Retreat CroppedThough some had never met before, the group of 12 women had much in common. They were all wives of clergy in the Emmaus Mission Network, and they all came needing something. Whether it was rest, refreshment, discovery of their own identity and gifts, the power to forgive or just the knowledge they weren't alone, they found it at the recent "Chosen, Partners in the Harvest" retreat, a network-based gathering sponsored by bishops' wives to support clergy wives in theAM.

Learn how the retreat ministered to attendees.

Parish to Hold First Service in New Building

Renovating New Parish After a seven-month renovation process, Church of the Apostles, Columbia, is scheduled to hold their first service November 20 in a newly purchased building.

Pending this week's installation of phone lines and a water meter, as well as successful building and fire alarm inspections, the church will conclude a season of meeting in the South Carolina State Museum and begin a new one at 1516 Bull Street, right in the heart of Columbia. The site, previously used by Second Calvary Baptist Church, is less than a mile from both the State House and the University of South Carolina and stands at the intersection of several major traffic arteries that service Richland and Lexington Counties. Catalyst Architects of Lexington, South Carolina, assisted with design, and Hood Construction Company turned the design into designated worship space.

Leaders believe this new platform for ministry will help them fulfill their response to the Great Commission, as well as provide increased seating capacity and day-to-day control over facilities. They also believe the construction of their own sacred space will facilitate mutual encouragement toward faith and obedience.
